Gill: HELP!

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Right…

Between 90-92 a band called D-Rok released an album that I think is called ‘The Noise Marines’ on Warhammer records, there was a single called ‘Out Of My Way’.

There is very little about them online, I’m just after a copy of the album – I had it on tape years ago, so can any of you shed any light on the subject?

KATIE: Lamb Of God @ Brixton

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Jesus- frickin’-Christ. Lamb Of God are amazing. I mean, I knew that anyway.. but last night’s performance at the Unholy Alliance blew my mind (and my ears off my head). I don’t know what magical ingredient they had in their bass stack/kick drum (cos I don’t really know about stuff like that), but every few (incredible) beats - the most amazing BOOOOOM!!!!! went across the venue - and made me burp. It was so loud, so deep, so amazing and so filthy - that a certain male on the Hammer team said that they nearly shat themselves. You know it’s a good gig when that’s the reaction! Damn it, it was amazing. I sung along (badly) to every word.. did my best attempt at metal dancing while still not losing my bag and coat - and stayed grinning from ear to ear all the way through. I love that band. What a night!

Amplifier at the Barfly!

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

James:  Even though we invented the bloody stuff, good British rock and metal bands do seem to still be on the endangered list, not for lack of quality mind you, we all know they’re out there, but more for lack of exposure. Got back from seeing Amplifier last night and if there was ever a prime example of a world class live band being shoe-horned into a venue no bigger than Dani Filth’s coffin, that was it! They’re far too damn good to still be playing places like the Barfly and their new album ‘Insider’ is definitely far too good to overlooked so if you get the chance to see them, hear them and you like a bit of experimental prog rock, check ‘em out. We at Hammer like this guys so much, I’m quite certain they’ll be featuring in our Critics Choice albums of 2006 which’ll be in print before the end of the year so check it out to see how they do. And don’t forget to keep the British flag flying at the Orange Goblin gig at the Mean Fiddler in December, the best early xmas present you’ll ever get!!!

Gill: post Memphis crazyface

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

I’ve just got back from Memphis and feel well mental because I haven’t slept for more than 4 hours a night for 4 days. I feel like a Robin Trower album cover.
I will blog you tomorrow. Unless I sleep for three weeks by accident, in which case I will blog you up then.
Peace, love, kip
