Gill: Dark Light

Monday, December 18th, 2006

Dark: noticed how much I’ve wanted to hate/kill at everything. Or just cry. Maybe it’s because it’s dark at midday at this time of year. It never fails to come as a surprise that we’re all so much more miserable when it’s dark aaaaaall the time. And with dark days come dark iPod requests. I think mine is bored of caning the Nine Inch Nails back catalogue, and more Jeff Buckley/Nick Drake/Counting Crows/John Cale than is healthy for a (fairly) grown man. No wonder people in Northern Scandinavian places top themselves all winter long. Mainly because their winter lasts for 11 1/2 months and the sets before it’s risen. Rad. It’s either that or some massive emotional upheavals… who’s to know?

Light: Even with all that shit going on, there is much to be hopeful/thankful for/about: In only a few days it’s Maiden with support from Trivium at Earl’s Court, and that’s the day after our Metal Hammer staff do, which is more like a monkey’s tea (Jager) party with a PCP buffet. Then it’s xmas which will doubtless be the blur of alcohlic separation and family super-imposition. Rad. Damn, getting negative again. So 2006 has been a bit good with more amazing albums than we knew what to do with - Mastodon, Tool, Bodom, 36 Crazyfists, Alexisonfire, Slayer, Maiden etc. and some amazing gigs (Turisas, Muse, Satriani, Alexis & Aiden stick in the mind). Next year the promise is that we’ll get a Guns N Roses album a Metallica album and a Judas Priest album. Who know’s what else 2007 might hold?

Peace. Love. Lost.

Gill: The Office (only not with Ricky)

Tuesday, December 12th, 2006

Well today everyone is pumping their keys and mouses (or is it mice?) to get the new mag off to press for deadline. Which means there is no patience for technical mathcore on the stereo. So I’m in the headphones listening to Hadcore Superstar - a modern cross between Skid Row and Tesla - rad.

Tomorrow night is Dragonforce at the Astoria and we’re all going down! Cannot wait. I wonder how pissed Sam is going to be by the time he gest on this time. It’s not only amazing that he can play while so battered, but play THAT. mad-speed solos and stuff, defies belief.

Also heard that Trent (NIN) will be releasing a DVD in Feb, and that he reckons he’ll have the new album out by autumn. yeah bollocks. If he does get the DVD out for Feb he’ll blatantly keep us waiting until the year 2012 for anything new. Wanker. I love him. Quite a lot. :(

And another thing Trent, where’s my bloody remix album for ‘With Teeth’ you lazy sod! I want a bloody remix album right like now! you owe me….

Now I’m all angry. Back the grind(core) stone.

Peace. Love. Hair.

Just some admin gubbins

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Well, here’s another tip.

At least, it’s a tip for people who like CoBodom and hard and sleazy rock and Skid Row’s Slave to the Grind and stuff like that…
