It’s THE award of the night - The Golden God. With this award, we like to celebrate someone that encompasses heavy metal entirely. The attitude, the style, the feel, the spirit - someone that IS heavy metal and this is possibly the most deserving recpeient we’ve had - ladies and gents, please be upstanding for Mr Kerry fucking King!
He breeds snakes, he looks like he’ll cave your skull in and he’s responsible for some of the greatest moments in heavy metal history. Slayer aren’t a band, they’re an institution. Their fans are the most die-hard around (officially if you read The Guardian) and EVERYONE with a passing interest in heavy music will have spent an evening shouting ‘Slay-er! Slay-er!’. Kerry King - formerly a legend, now a Golden God!

Slayer have been a huge influence on my drumming styles over the years, got into them back when i saw them on the south of heaven tour and loved them ever since. even though my style has changed recently with new sounds etc , you still carnt beat that heavy unique sound Slayer have, and so still listen to them regularly now.

I met Kerry King once. He was a total dude. His mighty beard is like a seperate entity. I love it!
