Beez: Faith No More – Surprise! You’re Back!
Butter his arse and call him excited, Beez has a few slightly excited words to say about the Faith No More reunion.
So, it’s no longer rumour. It’s not just that they might reform, it’s not just that there are offers on the table, Faith No More are fucking back. Christ on a bike, the smile’s been hard to wipe from my face all morning.
There’s an argument that Faith No More are one band that should never have reformed. They always had that raised middle-finger train of thought and the notion of a ‘take the money and run’ tour being associated with a band that spent their entire career sick to their stomach with such things as money-grabbing reunions is certainly a valid one.
The counter point is a simple one: who gives a fuck? Tell me that if/when Faith No More are in town, you’ll have something better to do or that the thought of standing with your mates and belting out the chorus to Epic doesn’t make you moist. If you can, then I see no future for us and it’s definitely not me, it’s you.
The best part about this whole FNM reunion goes far deeper than a live nostalgia session or a chance to see the band crank out the hits you’ve spent a large part of your adult life worshipping for the first time. There’s also the possibility of new material. Ho-ly shit! NEW Faith No More!
Let’s not beat around the bush, Faith No More were always original, inventive, skilled and, frankly, awesome songwriters. The personalities that made up that band were so schizophrenically different that an album would contain more flavours than a bag of Jelly Belly beans (we love them in the ‘Hammer office). Patton, as well as being one of the finest and most versatile rock vocalists to ever grace music, has always made sure his music is challenging and everything you wouldn’t expect it to be. They didn’t release a dull album, in my opinion they didn’t release a bad album and they always, always delivered something that was interesting. We could use this in 2009. In fact, we need that in 2009.
Just the thought of a new FNM album is enough to make you dribble down your chin.
In short, I’m excited and you should be too. One of the greatest and most original rock bands of our time are back with us. If you need a reason to get excited, check out the Youtube video at the bottom of the screen from the last time the band hit a UK festival. Fuck yeah!
It’s a dirty job but someone’s got to do it.
Beez
P.S. Thanks for all of your votes in our records that changed your life post. You rule!

sorry to post it in this one but i figured it’s the most recent – you don’t happen to have the setlist for Testament at the Priest Feast in London do you? cheers
Surely you’re forgetting the most important thing though Beez – Jim Martin.
While this is a version of FNM it’s not THE version of FNM. Shame they couldn’t put their differences behind them and reunite.
^^lol at that post; you need to listen to the last two albums, and the fact they are on parr -and some concider better than- the period in which Jim Martin was playing. This IS Faith No More; and the fact that they have chosen to reform where they left off as a band shows this is more than petty “The Real Thing” nostalgia!
I won the last 2 albums. I won all the albums in fact. And will good albums, they will never top the double punch of The Real Thing & Angel Dust. Sorry that’s just how it is.
MMMMmmmmm. been waiting for this since they refunded my ticket money from the tour they never finished…
Bungle’s disco volante live at Leeds Irish centre was excellent, but this should be awesome.
Will be there in my tshirt signed outside Bradford St George’s Hall in 1990. – At least a part of Big Jim will be there.
To me real/angel are the best albums, but the earlier and later stuff are better than most bands at their peak….
Hey how about bringing back big jim back? Big Ji was awesome. Really miss that guy on guitar.
amen to that article. SO glad fnm finally get the appreciation they should have been getting all this time.
