Beez: L-I-M-P Bizkit Is Right Here

terrybezer / Blog / 12/02/2009 16:03pm

The man in the red cap is back and it may not be the most popular view but Beez is ecstatic.

Today’s blog is probably the most certain to split opinion since it’s inception. The fact is, like many people of a certain age, Limp Bizkit were a hell of a fun band if you were the right age for them at the time.

When the news first broke in the ‘Hammer office, I was quite evidently on my own on being excited at this one. The eyeball arrows being shot in my general direction were enough to make William Tell shit a brick and in all fairness, I can understand it.

Think of it this way though: the people that loved Slayer and Exodus when they were 17 probably didn’t mind a bit of Warrant or Poison or even if they didn’t admit it at the time, they’ll admit it now.

Being Limp Bizkit in 2005 must have been like being Def Leppard in 1992. Limp Bizkit hadn’t changed but the world around them had changed and they found themselves to be the enemy for no real reason. Fred was always a character that you either loved or hated, they didn’t decide to be a prog-mathcore band – they were always the same and they went from being the first band to score a number one album and single at the same time in the UK since The Beatles 9that’s a fact, fact fans) to being the enemy for everyone in the metal world.

Jeez, even if you hated him he was a pantomime villain that didn’t really do anything to be hated. Are you telling me you wouldn’t fiddle with Britney Spears? Get the fuck outta here!

The bottom line is that if Limp Bizkit play at Donington as is rumoured or if they get booked at Sonisphere, it will be a mass party. Even from the days of Counterfeit, Limp Bizkit have made dancefloors in rock clubs ignite and Break Stuff is amongst the very best tunes to get down to.

Brace yourself, the Bizkit are back and if war is waged, I’m on Team Durst. Don’t worry, you can’t call me anything that I’m not already aware I am. ;-)

Check out more ranting from the ‘Hammer team!

I’m with you man! I was but a child when I was in to Bizkit but if they play Download then you’re damn right I’m gonna go see them. Unless they’re on at the same time as Motley Crue ;)

I really, really, really, really hope they play Download – it will be AWESOME. I realised this morning after the reformation announcement that I can recite the lyrics to ‘Break Stuff’ perfectly. It’s stupid and wrong but I want something stupid and wrong and dumb to jump around too when I’m drunk and rolling about in a festival field.

I saw LB twice. The first time was in Brighton I think around Ten Dollar Bill Y’all and they were great. Never heard them before and really enjoyed it.

Then I saw them play at Reading Festival and I was picking confetti out my pants for several days after. Again brilliant live band. And fuck- that guy writes catchy riffs, has to be said.

I look forward to seeing what comes out of it, but don’t hold hopes for it lasting long.

When I was 16 LB were a band I really got into and absolutely loved. Fair enough I haven’t listened to then for a good few years now but for that brief time they were one of the key bands that got me into metal. Yes my tastes have matured into real metal now but I shall also hold respect for LB and even Linkin Park because when they came on the scene they were the gateway to me finding the music I love today. But Durst is still a cum guzzler!

Mate, you hit the nail on the head with your 3rd paragraph…

I can clearly remember listening to South Of Heaven followed by Cherry Pie without even batting an (eyeshadowed) eyelid !

[...] As was confirmed yesterday, Limp Bizkit have reunited with their original line-up and now it’s also been confirmed that they will be part of this year’s Download proceedings. Check Beez’s verdict on the Limp Bizkit reunion. [...]

Got to admit it too, I’m looking forward to the Limp Bizkit reunion. Especially with Wes on board. Please come to the US.

WRONG. I was a teenage metalhead in the 80s and we made fun of people who listened to that hair metal crap. It sucked then and it sucks now, much lke Limp Bizkit.

@BlakNo1: damn, you’re so cool

haha i wish i was like BlakNo1!!
the bizkit are back

DARREN ROGERS

I am excited by the return of ‘Limp Bizkit’ if they can recapture the form of their first 3 albums. After ‘Chocalate starfish’ i think they went downhill hence them splitting up.

It’s scenester bullshit like this that has killed music. Fuck you and fuck your popular music opinion. And for that matter, fuck Metal Hammer. I’ve watched this once decent magazine since the mid 90s degenerate into a trite, trend following shit rag.
Notice how Rammstein gets the press, while not a peep has been made about KMFDM’s brace of new records?

DISGUSTED

but KMFDM don’t have lots of fire and rubber cocks ;-)

Top stuff Beez. Although I was aware and owned some metal music beforehand ‘Break Stuff’ alone was enough to get me into rock/metal music totally. The opening, crunching riff. The angsty, f*ck you lyrics. Ace. I went to see Limp Bizkit at Wembley arena in 2001. Limp Bizkit pretty much ‘popped my (nu?)metal cherry’ and from there on I was hooked. I’m now a fully fledged rock/metal fan right across the board from AC/DC and Sabbath to Disturbed, Rage and Deftones. I fell out of love with Limp when they released ‘Chocolate Starfish…’ (which I consider to be weak as hell -’Rollin” is truly awful). I’m not really a Limp Bizkit fan but I’ll never forget the impact they had on my musical taste and I dare say others too. Long live the Limp. Fred is still a bit of a cock though.

thanks !! very helpful post!

Excellent site, It was pleasant to me.

hell yeah. nu metal 4 life!!
