i’ll either head to bloodstock or go to a euro festival where i can get travel, tickets and accomodation for the same price as the knebworth ticket alone.

I’m going to Wacken this year, line up so far includes bands I haven’t heard of but I’m looking forward to seeing Machine Head and Motorhead.

Download is overpriced and even with Slipknot being announced I still wouldn’t pay that much.

I know Wacken will probably cost more as the Euro is crap at the moment, but I enjoyed the atmosphere at Wacken enough last year to want to go again.

I am seeing metallica 4 times on the area tour… total cost £160. to pay another £160 to see them ONCE more is excessive.

There are only two bands I’d pay £40 plus to see metallica and AC/DC. They are both quality.

However, there is a difference between paying for quality and being ripped off. Sonispheres pricing is not paying for quality its ripping off the fans.

OK bob, they can justify the cost over say download – because download’s facilities are poor, the campsites are rubbish, and there was a massive contingent of bitching after last years download about the layout and treatment of campers. Galbraith has promised a quality setup. If he fails – believe me I will be one of the first to say something about it. download might be 3 days, but spreading a poor lineup over 3 days doesn’t make it better than a lineup without the filler that only lasts 2 days does it? people are talking about def leppard headlining – please, gimme a break, I’m old enough to remember when pyromania came out.
That is the reason I feel like defending the fest, because the naysayers are slagging it off before its even had a chance.

dean, i don’t disagree with anything you say about download. its been a pile of shit since its inception and has destroyed the “Donington” legacy that Monsters of Rock built up.

I’ve not seen one person slag the festival off. Please go and re-read all of mine and other peoples comments on both here and the metclub. Not once has the festival been slagged off.

What has been slagged off is the pricing policy and lack of day tickets. Compared to download, Reading, Bloodstock and 90% of all european festivals the price for sonisphere is very expensive.

You (and the festival) can’t defend the inflated price by saying “well downloads facilities/organistion are poor”. That is just download, its shit, we all know it. Reading and Bloodstock are both extremely well run and both extremely well organised and both cheaper in comparision (per day) than sonisphere. The same goes for all those european festivals.

yes Gilbraith claims the facilities/organisation at Knebworth will be better than Downloads, and I don’t doubt him. A fucking untrained monkey could improve on that with its eyes closed. But he can’t justify the excessive pricing because he will organise a better festival. Reading and Bloodstock are cheaper than Sonisphere and they can already claim better organisation/facilities than download, but they don;t hike up their price because of it.

Bob G you are spot on can’t even be bothered reading the forum on metclub with dean creaming his pants over the £160 + price to watch Metallica in a fricken field, Tickets for Wembely on 2007 were around £40, great day out and easy to get to. If youo look at the prices for other festival ie Portugal one day ticket 50 euros, i think you ca see why people are pissed off and dean i am sure you are loaded and can afford such prices but spooky other people are not ans are not happy about it!

Wait and see day tickets will be out soon, there is no damger this will sell out, Wembley didn’t!!

In the last 6 months I have bought the coffin box and 4 tickets (Sheffield, O2, Birmingham and O2 again) thats roughly £240 + travel, booze..etc. People can say I’m mad but that’s my choice.

My son who’s 10 (cough) was really upset on missing out on these shows but from December everyone knew they were going to play Knebworth, so a bit camping and music with Mum and Dad …cool.

Now I feel like i’ve been butt f***ed..! For my wife, son and I to go to this thing will cost me £521.95

(£157.50 x 3 Tickets plus £11.50 x 3 Service Charge plus Secure Post £4.95 plus £10 Car Park)

That day I was down the front for 8 of the 9 bands (never did like warrior soul). That works out i paid £4 per band. WHAT A PRICE WHAT A FESTIVAL!

If i was to pay for knebworth I’d be paying £157.50 + £11.50 service charge +£4.95 postage (£175.95 total). Of the announced line up I’d want to see Metallica, LoG and Mastadon. That works out at £57.98 per band. Thats one hell of a difference

Metalheads whether Thrashers, Death Metallers all the way to Glammies I reckon probably go to 20 – 40 gigs a year, buy 15-50 CDs plus 10 T-shirts. We are loyal in our own way because we love this music!

I was looking forward to Hellfire festival, until all of the rebooks and refunds, and then changed the entire premise of the festival away from up and coming British metal and towards mediocre US bands forcing the real UK up and comers (Malefice, Anterior, Burning Skies) to take a back seat.

Why would Bloodstock beat Download?

Bloodstock is full of crap metal whilst Download has a wide variety of music.

As for Sonisphere it costs roughly the same as Download only has one stage and about 11 bands playing sure it has Metallica but it also has Linkin Park.

Overall Download owns all.

download will always come out on top as long as it has slipknot there !!!!!

Iv got tickets for Sonisphere in Barcelona, Metallica, Slipkont, Lamb of God & Mastodon already been confirmed for the 1 day, price is 70 euro, just seems better value than gettin arse fucked for a 2 day UK festival, especially when one of the headliners is fuckin linkin park!

i’m saying sonisphere, just because Avenged Sevenfold are on the line-up ahha
