Beez: Why We’re Excited About Marilyn Manson’s Return

OK, so he may not have released a decent record in a while (some would argue he hasn’t even released a ‘good’ album in a while) but Beez is still excited about the return of Marilyn Manson. Check out the title and first video details for Manson’s new album.

If you heard ‘Eat Me, Drink Me’, you have every right to wonder why we’re getting ourselves all lathered up about Marilyn Manson’s new record. Devoid of the sex and attitude that usually comes with a Manson record, it is the biggest blot on Manson’s career thus far and you could even argue that ‘The Golden Age Of Grotesque’ wasn’t much better.

Why are we bothered about a new Manson record then? There are plenty of reasons. Check out title of Marilyn Manson’s new album.

For starters, Twiggy’s back in a co-writing capacity. Don’t get me wrong, Manson’s an acomplished songwriter and the aforementioned 2 records had their moments. ‘If I Was You Vampire’ was a rocker, ‘This Is The New Shit’ sounds dynamite in a club and ‘mOBSCENE’ kills it but ‘Antichrist Superstar’, ‘Mechanical Animals’ and ‘Holy Wood’ were chocked full of great tunes from start to finish – all were co-wrote with Ramirez and the bassist’s been sorely missing since his departure in 2002. There’s also the added promise that Manson will be returning to their ‘Anichrist Superstar’ sound.

There’s also the Dita factor. If you’ve ever broken up with someone after an intense relationship (and you’re anything like I), you’ll probably mope for a bit before painting the town all types of day-glo colours. ‘Eat Me Drink Me’ was Manson’s post-Dita moping session. Now we’re ready for the bile and fucking mayhem to begin.

Finally, there’s the song titles. Yes, you can’t judge a song by it’s title. ‘Enter Sandman’ is a great song with a pants title and Guns N’ Roses had the opposite problem with ‘Locomotive’ but tell me a track title like ‘Armagoddamnmotherfuckinggeddon’ doesn’t get the blood pumping. Other titles said to be on the record are ‘I Want To Kill You Like They Do In The Movies’ and ‘Devour’.

Of course, this could all be false hope. We’ve not heard a bar of music from the album yet but Manson has said to Revolver Magazine “I’ve got my fire back,” and the new album “really wipes the floor with everything we’ve done before.”

I believe him. Do you?

Marilyn Manson have just been confirmed for Rock Am RIng and the Rockstar Mayhem tour.

In my view mansons last decent album was the golden age of grotesque it had attitude, it had raw power it had everything we wanted from manson if he is claiming that this is the album that we should care about it must have that same ball kicking intensity that golden age had
