Blog: Is Chris Cornell Going Crunk?
If you’re yet to hear Chris Cornell’s new single ‘Part Of Me’, you might want to head on in.
Chris Cornell – one of the finest voices to bless rock music in the past 20 years, an amazing song-writer and the frontman for one of the Metal Hammer office’s favourite bands to grace the planet.
We have to get that out of the way before talking about his new single, ‘Part Of Me’. If you’re yet to hear it, listen to the track here and compare it to ‘Fell On Black Days’, ‘Outshined’,
Do we really want Cornell singing over the top of Timbaland’s bleeps? Is it really Cornell’s job to bring Sexyback? Is this not one of the most ‘WTF?’ musical moments in recent memory?
As always music’s a subjective thing and there might be those who like this new direction from the former Soundgarden man….but do we really need a Crunk Cornell?
Chris Cornell plays the Kings Cross Scala on February 23rd. Get tickets for Chris Cornell!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Its not the best. Not really Jesus Christ Pose or rusty cage is it.
No, it isn’t Jesus Christ Pose or Rusty Cage, and thank god for that – at least someone has the balls to move on and stop recycling ancient history!!! Good for him. I’m sick to death of rehashes, recycled riffs and reunions.
Sweetums* Yeah, i see what you mean but fuck me, we don’t want a Chris Cornell and friggn’ Timbaland Collab. The Hidden track on the album is the only good song so far, as it’s just chris…
It’s not a good idea in my opnion…
Oh Chris…What have you done?
Why?………….Just why?
I Guess next step for him would be joinin’ pussy cat dolls.
shocking…. just shocking

d’ya think Glen Benton would ever do this?

did i just say that?
Everytime I listen to Chris I am awed by his incredible voice. It got stronger and more mature over the years. I look at his old Soundgarden stuff(like 1990,or earlier)and I am amazed at what an animal he was. All the hair tossing, I love the move when he jumps off the drum stand and tosses his hair back! Sexy! He makes me think bad thoughts or good thoughts, depends on how you look at it. He was always so dark and his new music is too light. Hes going the wrong way w/ his music. He has to stay true to himself and us. Dont get me wrong I love him very much, and his voice remains great. Its just that I wouldnt listen to this stuff. My daughter listens to pop crap. I hate her music, its up there w/ country. I will not listen to it. Scream is like that. So sad. Come back to us Chris….. Please…… By the way, I still cant beleive the former members of rage against the machine joined Chris to make Audioslave. I mean,Im glad they did,I love Audioslave. Mostly because Chris was the front man. I guess they didnt know they were signing up for the Chris Cornell Experience! Chris is such an artist, he could definetly stand alone. Hes an accomplished writer, singer, and performer. I like to just look at him, drooling, dazed, and dumbfounded. He doesnt need Timbaland. Why did he go this way? Why? Is it because of his situation now? I think it is. Hes being influenced by someone that doesnt know. Cant grasp what is great about him. Hes getting too soft. He has to dig deep and find the real Chris Cornell. Its kinda funny in a sarcastic way that his album is called Scream. Some of his old, old, stuff would better qualify. People have been talking about an Audioslave reunion. Thats why Chris is growing his hair. What about a Soundgarden reunion. Now that would be great! Not just a show, though, for years. I bet theyd pump out some great stuff. Thatd be unbeleivable! What a dream……
Sweetums you’re talking rubbish. This new music is completely unoriginal to my ears.
