Come on in to check out number’s 6 to 4 from this year’s Metal Hammer Critic’s Poll. Come back tomorrow to find out our number 1!

6. AMON AMARTH
TWILIGHT OF THE THUNDER GOD
Metal Blade

“A triumphant exercise in fulfilling expectations, Twilight Of The Thunder God resounds with confidence, strength and a genuine desire to attain glory on this band’s own terms. Amon Amarth have stepped up and delivered, fearless and truly thunderous to the last.”
DOM LAWSON
(October 2008, issue 184, 246 points)

5. GOJIRA
THE WAY OF ALL FLESH
Listenable

“There’s something so distinctive, so ferociously original about the Frenchmen’s bludgeoning, relentlessly inventive sound, that The Way Of All Flesh feels like a very important album, both for its creators and for metal in general. Utterly fucking brilliant from start to finish, this needs to be heard to be believed.”
DOM LAWSON
(October 2008, issue 184, 256 points)

4. TESTAMENT
THE FORMATION OF DAMNATION
Nuclear Blast

“This is without a doubt Testament’s finest album for many a year. Great songs and killer performances and an overall sound that offers the finest the band could give. This band towers over the competition like a colossus. Testament’s finest hour. A great fucking metal album and make no mistake.”
JERRY EWING
(June 2008, issue 179, 370 points)

Number 1 – Opeth or Metallica?

Austrian Death Machine for number 1! xD

KingOli

Metallica can’t be number one, DM is good but far worse than previous efforts.

Metallica will be number 1 just cause there Metallica. I am shocked that Kalmah is not in here.
