Metal Hammer Critics’ Top 50 Albums 2008: 15-13

Come on in to check out number’s 15 to 13 from this year’s Metal Hammer Critic’s Poll.

15. SATYRICON
THE AGE OF NERO
Roadrunner

“This is an album that has been shrewdly designed to steadily grow in stature as it tightens its ghoulish grip on your heart. An exercise in incremental corruption, a slow-burning hypnosis via the persistent, mesmerising thud of sledgehammer blows to the subconscious, The Age Of Nero is Satyricon’s first bona fide masterpiece.”
DOM LAWSON
(December 2008, issue 186, 150 points)

14. IHSAHN
ANGL
Candlelight

“An album that maintains the austere, progressive momentum of its predecessor while gleefully reconnecting with some of the dark, violent instincts that drove Emperor majestically forward a decade ago. This is a brutal metal album.”
DOM LAWSON
(June 2008, issue 179, 160 points)

13. CAVALERA CONSPIRACY
INFLIKTED
Roadrunner

“Inflikted is a strong start from a new band with a spectacular history. Much was expected, and a great deal is delivered. But the real triumph is that, ultimately, the Cavaleras have made talk of a Sepultura reformation just a touch irrelevant.”
MALCOLM DOME
(April 2008, issue 177, 166 points)
