Metal Hammer Critics’ Top 50 Albums 2008: 18-16
Come on in to check out number’s 18 to 16 from this year’s Metal Hammer Critic’s Poll.
18. NINE INCH NAILS
THE SLIP
The Null Corporation
“There are lots of classic songs here making The Slip ultimate Nine Inch Nails. This is the best of Trent Reznor – all the anger, despondency, frustration, discontent and self-doubt channelled into a timeless electro-metal opus. The polymath of misery.”
GILL
(August 2008, issue 181, 132 points)
17. AIRBOURNE
RUNNIN’ WILD
Roadrunner
“Airourne are leading a classic rock revival – when they sound like AC/DC – and are sporadically daft – when they sound like Rose Tattoo. Their professionally-realised sound on party anthems like Diamond In The Rough is more than good enough for a rockin’ good time.”
JOHN DORAN
(February 2008, issue 175, 134 points)
16. BLACK STONE CHERRY
FOLKLORE AND SUPERSTITION
Roadrunner
“There’s a down home warmth and sincerity to Folklore And Superstition that in less capable hands would sound cringeworthy. Black Stone Cherry have hit on a winning Southern rock formula that shows all the signs of making them a celebrated and timeless band.”
CAREN GIBSON
(September 2008, issue 183, 148 points)

Yeah ‘Black Stone Cherry’ doing well!
Was pleasantly surprised by The Slip. Great album
and Airbourne is alot of fun!
although airbourne and black stone cherry really impressed me live recently (not really bothered with their style) i would’ve put NIN “the slip” at at least number 16. waiting for Sabaton “the art of war”, Opeth “watershed” and avantasia “scarecrow”. Favourite albums of this year in that order as well as the bezerker and metallica
