The enemy of my enemy...
Just a thought following the delight the Manchester United fraternity have taken in Liverpool's misfortune over the last week, and a conversation I had with a colleague at work earlier.
He was stunned when I said I gladly cheer when the likes of Manchester or Chelsea score against Sp*rs. While if I'm honest I'll maybe breathe a reluctant sigh of relief if the lillywhites score a dodgy last-minute equaliser when league positions are tight and I'd much prefer a 0-0 draw with both sides having 4 players red carded each, some things are dyed-in-the-wool, and while distaste for bitter rivals will always be apparent, it has nothing on local hostilities. If I'm not mistaken, did Pompey fans not chant 'let them score' at their own fans when a defeat would have (and did) send Southampton down a couple of years back, and raise the roof when the opposition did bulge the onion bag?
