If I had them already then it wouldn't be so much of a problem, but in terms of uniform it could be an issue, but design mainly(I don't knwo how your friend gets away with a Grim Reaper, that'd be a big NO) does depend on the nature. Nothing offensive would be acceptable.
But yeah hygiene big time. I'd have to take 2 weeks holiday to make sure it had healed before going back if it was on my arm as it's technically an open wound, and working on an HIV and Infectious disease ward(though the nature of workplace wouldn't matter really) wouldn't be the most appropriate place! Also the amount of times I wash my hands(that includes quite a far way up my forearm) i'd fuck the tattoo up pretty quickly.
Actually, in my experience, you should wash the tattoo quite often, just rub on a very thin layer of Bepanthen after each wash. That's all I ever do. Once I'm home and taken the initial covering off I never put another one back on. Just keep it clean and let the air get to it. Even my tattooist used to comment on how well I healed. Mind you, he just seemed impressed with my skin, he also said I take colour particularly well. Shame I developed and allergy to the fucking ink!
I wasn't being serious about the wallpaper thing by the way, I like the design and I think where you intend to position it it will be really cool.
