I have a peavey PA head, with 9 channels and 2 15" peavy SP 5G, bout 6 years old and worked great until for some reason both speakers fried individually, I had a bud test the outputs on the amp and it works fine without any shorts or bursts....the speakers now make a mechanical droning sound.....I assume it's the cones or voice coils? not too keen on my equipment as i should be...wondering so when i go to replace whats broken i know what the fuck im talking about and don't get ripped...
also, Ive seen a lot of mesa and have had a lot of experience with marshall and am not a huge fan but it's all ive tried in half stack range...I'll save some dough and splurge on some ebay mesa shit for kicks, any exact models?
Mesa shit is good but i dont think its worth the money if you want mesa gear id say buy a jmp one get one of those flights to florida for £100 keep the JMP boxed and see if they'll swap it. when i went to florida last they were asking me if i could get hold of VOX stuff and were like yeah we'd exchange vox amps that are new for pretty much anything, marshall over there is like the prices of mesa here so, it is hassle just to do it tho. out of all the mesa gear id probably just say buy a triaxis preamp and run a marshall el34 or one of the 9000 series poweramp unless your specifically looking for the sound of 6L6 valves.
as for the PA you sure you were running the right impedances to the speakers ?
