I did a Google search for "Child dies parents homeopathy". The first thing that comes up is a case where parents were found guilty of manslaughter because they used Homeopathy instead of proper medicine:
(This source is a Research Surgeon who blogs under the name Orac. A source I trust totally)
(another page for the same case)
Then we have a list of people who have been harmed by using Homeopathy instead of proper medicine, many of whom died:
You can bet your arse that there are more. And as Homeopathy is nothing more than magical thinking, imagine the amount that would come under that when prayer, crystals and other snake oil is included.
Yes, the cases where people harm their children because they have been conned into believing Homeopathy works and that "Big Pharma" is bad piss me off. But it's the cynical attitude behind the con that gets me the most. It puts me in mind of the Catholic Church, in that it's hard to believe that the people high up in the organisation can possibly believe what they're spreading because they know it's source, they know it's made up, but it's in their interest to carry on anyway, no matter what the harm. So the people behind Homeopathy are either idiots or liars and neither should be allowed to practise medicine. I came across a site that said "Homeopathy doesn't kill people, Homeopaths do". It's the Homeopaths I don't like.
I'm not claiming to be an expert, but I don't have to be. I came across Homeopathy while researching other Woo through sources that I trust. I know I sound preachy, but it wasn't me that started the thread about it.
EDIT: I hadn't actually read all of the Orac post about the manslaughter case, but I have now and he also makes a comparison with Religion. Another thing I noted was that the parents were Homeopaths. Seemingly intelligent, professional people, so taken in by it that they practise it themselves and killed their own daughter.
