Pathetically low gig attendance
Kroz mentioned a gig in Derby, Metal City, where he and his partner WERE the crowd. anyone else got any tales of woe they'd like to share?
As the audience - I saw King at Derby Assembly Room (capacity maybe 1200) with, I'd guess 10 other people. Ironically, that was a week or so before the release of 'Love And Pride', and when I next saw them a month or so later there were people fighting touts outside Nottingham Royal Centre to get in, and I only got in because my partner worked with their ex-drummer.
As a band-member - My rock'n'roll band played a second set to just our wives and partners at a wedding once.
As a promoter - I used to run a blues club locally, free entry and some good bands (Aynsley Lister for example) and used to get maybe 50 regulars and another 30 others in. I started to charge a nominal £1, and the first time I did the audience was 6. Tightwad Derby bas***ds!
