That's kind of the whole point of the thread though isn't it. Die Hard is quite clearly set at Christmas time (Christmas Eve in fact). The office Christmas party at Nakatomi Plaza is a dead giveaway. And the line "Now I have a machine gun. Ho! Ho! Ho!" doesn't really make any sense for any other time of the year.
But it's an atypical Christmas film. Which is where the humour of the original post is derived from. Expectations subverted you see. Ohhhh, the topic is called Christmas films, bet it'll be A Christmas Carol, or Scrooged, or It's A Wonderful Life.
