*spoiler for anyone not up to the end of season 4 *
So fucking glad Julie Benz (Rita) got her throat slit, talentless waste of space. Just have to hope Deb gets butchered now.
Maybe "awful" is a little strong, but I just found it a complete slog to get through. I like Jimmy Smits a lot, but Miguel was a really bland villain and the side plots just didn't seem to amount to anything - Batista's relationship with the vice cop didn't have any bearing on anything else, the skinner killer started off interesting but was a little developed and felt llke just a plot device to put Dexter in danger the last episode, Debra and the CI was ehhh... It just didn't feel like a whole lot was going on.
Season 4 twelve of the best episodes of tv I've ever seen though - John Lithgow was brilliant, and the way they set him up as an older mirror of Dexter and the way his life could pan out was great.
Totally agreed on Rita getting killed off, she was so bloody dull. And hey, I LIKE Deb
