THE ARTERIES (WAL)
These anthemic good-time punk rockers from Swansea are one of the hardest working bands in punk and have toured with Dead To Me, The Flatliners, played FEST and recorded a live session for Mike Davies in 2011. This is their first ever visit to Dundee. New “Dead Sea” LP is out now Specialist Subject/Paper+Plastick Records.
THE SLOW DEATH (USA)
Kick-ass gruff Midwestern pop-punk super-group featuring members of Pretty Boy Thorson/The Ergs/Rest Of Us from Minneapolis, Minnesota play their first ever Scottish show as part of their tour with The Arteries. Think D4/Off With Their Heads/Dear Landlord. New album “Born Ugly Got Worse” out now on Kiss Of Death Records.
THE UPSTARTS (10th Anniversary Show!)
Aberdeen ska-punk kings celebrate their tenth anniversary with a one-night-stand on the opening night of BYAF. Expect riotous skanking anthems and more woah's than you could possibly hope for. This will be their first Dundee show in over 4 years.
MIKEY ERG! (USA)
Legendary punk rock journeyman and founder of The Ergs is one of the most prolific men in music and comes to BYAF to serenade us with a solo set. This will be a rare treat and we are very excited. Do not miss!

One of the most influential punk rock bands of all-time return to Dundee for the first time in nearly 15 years! Headlining on Saturday 3rd December, this is your best chance of seeing these punk rock legends up close and personal. This is their only Scottish show of 2011 and will be truly special. Cowpunks are likely to weep with joy.
Probably the greatest punk band ever to emerge from Cornwall, Bangers are one of the few UK bands awesome enough to be asked to play FEST in Gainesville and have had an incredible year in 2011. New album "Small Pleasures" on Kiss Of Death is one of the best records of the year.
Super-fast driving melodic hardcore married to a Fat Wreck beat, these Dutch troops have toured all over the world and shared stages with the likes of Rise Against and Propagandhi. Latest record “Start From Scratch” is out now and is an absolute beast. This will be their first time in Dundee.
One of GHC's finest, Departures will be destroying BYAF for the first time. New album 'When Losing Everything Is Everything You Wanted' is out now on Fist In The Air Records and it's an album of the year contender.
Arguably the greatest active screamo/hardcore band in the world, Kaddish continue to evolve and grow and will return to BYAF to amaze, confound and leave jaws on the floor one more time. This is essential.

Lincoln's finest hard-working melodic punk rockers return to BYAF for the first time since the inaugural event way back when. New album "What Keeps You Breathing" is mad deece and out now on Lockjaw Records.
Hard-hitting popular alternative rockers playing super-infectious melodic zingers to get stoked and dance to finally make it to BYAF. It's been a long time in coming. New album drops real soon too.

DRIVE BY AUDIO
Fife's hardest rocking exports bring their party-starting brand of insane Rap, Thrash'n'Roll mayhem to the Saturday afternoon of BYAF. These troops are guaranteed to melt faces and bring a healthy dose of chaos.
Aberdeen's legendary Plague Carriers of the Crust Apocalypse play BYAF for the very first time and bring with them their brutal blend of crust/metal/anarcho punk for some Saturday afternoon madness.
One of the best Scottish bands to emerge this year, these scene veterans will enchant you with their righteous blend of mid-90s emo/skramz/punk rock. Probably the finest example of contemporary "Ecossemo".
Full-blast maniacal thrash/hardcore/punk madness from the mean streets of Glasgow finally make it to BYAF after being snowed off last year. One of the most exciting live bands around, we’re stoked to have them with us. New 7” out now.
New melodic punk rock band from members of the Make-That-A-Take Collective in a Bouncing Souls/Hot Water Music/Off With Their Heads emo/punk style. First show in October and playing Pre-Fest at The Wayward Council in Gainesville.

FRANZ NICOLAY (USA)
Accordion-wielding folk-rock troubadour and The Hold Steady/Against Me!/World Inferno Friendship Society/Leftover Crack contributor is one of the busiest men in music and makes time to pay Dundee a visit for a Sunday solo set. Last seen supporting Frank Turner at The Doghouse in March this year.
ONE NIGHT STAND IN NORTH DAKOTA (ENG)
Utterly amazing intelligent acoustic punk from Durham on Plan-It-X visit Dundee for the first time. Having toured the US, released two albums and a split with the highly influential Ghost Mice, this is a special treat for all.
CHRIS T-T (ENG)
Brighton's finest export, Chris T-T is one of the most important and prolific songwriters of our generation and is labelmates with some guy called Frank Turner. Touring with Franz Nicolay, this will be an absolute Sunday delight.
Danceable noisy indie rock four-piece from Dundee celebrating their most successful year to date come to BYAF to party with us on Sunday. Debut album "Yearlings" on Olive Grove Records in one of the best of 2011.
THE CUT-UPS (ENG)
Book Yer Ane Fest favourites, super-fun melodic punk rockers and just all-round good chaps making a return to Dundee for the first time in 2 years. Think Bouncing Souls/Billy Bragg/Loved Ones.
Everyone's favourite acoustic guitar-wielding punk rock poet returns to Book Yer Ane Fest for the third time. All his friends are scumbags but don't hold that against him. This will cap off an amazing year for this ever-growing young man.
THE BARENTS SEA
Introspective yet ultimately uplifting and joyous anthemic indie rock from Perth armed with a fistful of tunes and tales of small town blues and frustration. Think Death Cab/Gaslight Anthem/Tigers Jaw.
Edinburgh Hardcore's finest join us for a Sunday afternoon set. One of the hardest working bands in the country, Shields have had an amazing year and make their last visit to Dundee of 2011. Fists-in-the-air time baby!
THE STAY GONES
Soulful gruff melodic punk rockers from Edinburgh/Glasgow capping an amazing year having played with with Hot Water Music, World/Inferno, Red City Radio and more. Raph is a true warrior and deserves your love.
First ever Dundee show from Perth's alternative/post-rock supergroup featuring members of Friday First, PMX and Torturo Nervosa. Expect soaring melodies and twinkly soundscapes ffo Biffy/Brand New/etc.
Epic multi-layered soundscapes and melancholic lo-fi indie pop played solo and with passion from Glasgow-based artist Ewan Grant. This will be a fantastic way to kick-off the Sunday. Go download the "A.D" EP now!
Youthful gobby ska/punk/reggae crew from Carnoustie who have totally upped their game in 2011, playing with the likes of Matt Freeman's Devils Brigade and The Beatdown. Expect bouncing tunes and suspect banter.
Wonderful and unique multi-instrumentalist Chris Lee-Marr bring his sometimes uplifting, sometimes melancholic brand of alt-pop to the Sunday of BYAF. Like Mike Kinsella playing songs on kids' toys and acoustic guitar. Chilled goodness!
Urgent, rattling, full-throated passionate and raw DIY or DIE acoustic cowpunk two-piece play their first show in some 3/4 years on the Sunday of BYAF. This performance will be unicorn-shit rare and will be very special.
Rollicking political acoustic folk punk in the vein of Billy Bragg/Bruce Springsteen/Green Day making a solo appearance of the Sunday of BYAF. New record "Despite The Blackout" out now on Corporate Records.
Lo-fi acoustic folky goodness from a veteran of the Scottish underground scene striking out on his own these days. Expect quiet introspection, witty banter and a mostly impressive beard.
Beautiful meets bleak acoustic folk/punk/pop/rock goodness from the hills of Perthshire from one of the most talented young songwriters around. Think Dave Hause/Chuck Ragan/City and Colour.
Grumpy super-bearded acoustic punk miserableness from the former Try Hards man. His relocation to the Shetland Isles from his native Dundee has done little for his breezy outlook but much for his music.
