Metal Hammer have spoken to A Day To Remember frontman Jeremy McKinnon who reveals that he has no worries of being called a sell-out after the release of ‘Homesick’ on February 2nd.
“We’re a pop punk/hardcore band,” says McKinnon. “We have been from the start. If people don’t get that, then it’s cool because they aren’t fans of our band anyway.”
Was it a hard job to keep a balance between the harder moments and the melodic moments on ‘Homesick’?
Jeremy McKinnon: “Nope, that’s what we’ve been working on all these years. Figuring out a way to make two genres that don’t mix, mix.”
Picking a single from this album must have been hell with the amount of big hooks on the record.
McKinnon: “It actually was really hard for us. No joke, we feel there are multiple songs that could be singles. We even changed our minds last minute!! It turned out being ‘The Downfalll Of Us All’, we think it’s very representative of what makes us A DAY TO REMEMBER.”
Have you had a lot of feedback about the record?
McKinnon: “We’ve had tons of feedback! I’m not just saying this, we’ve had so much good feedback its been overwhelming. Our fans, and even people who weren’t really into us in the first place are really digging what we’ve done. We’re really excited about it. We can’t wait to play the new stuff to the UK fans, we always have such a great time over there. The crowds are insane!”
A Day To Remember start their UK tour on February 14th with tickets available now. Read Metal Hammer magazine’s very first interview with A Day To Remember!
