alexisonfire_90Alexis talk to us about their forthcoming EP, ‘Dog’s Blood’.

We sat down for a brief chat with Wade McNeill and George Pettit from Alexisonfire who spilt the beans on their forthcoming EP, ‘Dog’s Blood’.

Wade: “It’s called Dogsblood. It’ll be out in the new year. We’re probably going to press it onto ten inch, four songs, two songs per side.”

Geroge: “Two really really heavy songs, two atmospheric songs. I’ve started working on some lyrics, we have an artist in mind. I think we’re going to try and do a few 7” releases as well around the same time.”

So these aren’t songs left over from the album?

George: “One of them is. It doesn’t have a title yet, it’s instrumental.

Why the decision to do an EP?

Wade: “We had some new riffs that we had to get out there.”

George: “We had an idea… Dallas had an idea for some really heavy songs and some really light songs… so some of the songs are really poppy… Wade and I were sitting waiting to do the Black Lungs tour for like six hours and Wade just jammed this blues riff and I was just reaming off stupid spooky lyrics – some of which actually became lyrics on the new album – but there were some gems that didn’t. It was just really fun to write, so I’m trying to write like that, more macabre.”

The Blues with the macabre, sounds like Nick Cave.

George: “I’m a big fan, that’s kind of who I was ripping off as I was thinking them up… ‘Murder at the wheel of a Cadillac and death climbs in the back’.”

Wade: “We just wanted to put some more stuff out.

George: “We’re still feeling inspired.”
