Annotations Of An Autopsy reveal all about album number 2!
UK death metal heavyweights Annotations Of An Autopsy are about to enter the studio to record the follow-up to their 2008 debut album, ‘Before The Throne Of Infection’. The new album will be titled ‘II: The Reign Of Darkness’ and will be recorded at Foel Studio in Wales (Napalm Death/Electric Wizard/Porcupine Tree). Songs due to appear on the record include ‘In Snakes I Bathe’, ‘Impale The Sun’, ‘Destined To Reign’ and ‘Breeding Vermin Unto The Sewers’.
“It’s a lot darker than anything we’ve done before,” says frontman Steve Regan. “The aim of the last album was to be as heavy as possible, but with this album it’s more concentrating on musicianship and writing the best songs we can. The whole album will have a very depressing feel to it. If you read the lyrics, listen to it and look at the artwork, it tells the story of the sloth of humanity.”
The new album’s artwork has been created by Par Olofsson (The Faceless/Devourment/Psycroptic) and will be unveiled next month on the band’s MySpace page at www.myspace.com/annotationsofanautopsy The album will be released later this year via Siege Of Amida Records.
Meanwhile, Annotations are due to replace The Acacia Strain as chief support on Belgian death metal crew Aborted’s UK tour, which begins on May 31 in Plymouth. Also appearing will be Salt The Wound.

The musicianship was of the first album was abit all over the place. Good to see they are centering around it more in the new album. I would also like them alot more if the lyrics weren’t so fucked and in general utter wank. ‘She beld from every fucking hole’ isn’t exactly the greatest lyric ever, niether is ‘when i’m done with you, you won’t have a cunt left’
That’s almost word for word what the Trigger The Bloodshed man said about their latest. The similarities continue.

I don’t think anyone who was singing along at Download 08 will have any qualms about the quality of AOAA’s lyrics.
“She bleeds from every fucking hole” and ” When I’m done with you, you won’t have a cunt left” are poetic masterpieces, not to mention “my knife, deep inside, your fucking uterus”

I think it’s time to grow up and make some proper music.
I have always felt that aoaa had a lot more to offer and i feel as they grow we will see that they are a force to reckon with.
For thier debut Album i have to give this band credit the album had more impact and guts than most debut albums i have heard in the past few years and they are not afraid to tear down the boundaries of genre.
I will be looking for greater things from the follow up album and knowing this band are so passionate about what they do ,i dont think i will be disapointed with the result
You may say that welcome sludge city’s lyrics are wank, but that’s probably their biggest song, and almost everyone loves to chant to those lyrics. They’re an unbelievably brutal band, who delivered and unbelivable first album. I’m just expecting another masterpiece.
