Anterior In Japan: Part Two
Here’s part two of Anterior’s Japan Tour Diary, courtesy of frontman Luke Davies!
Another night of absolutely no sleep. The hotel we were in have pillows which were about as comfy as a bag full of elbows, fucking awful. I literally lay down trying to sleep for 3 hours and then gave up in a furious frustrated mood and watched sumo wrestling for another 4 hours. But the best cure for a miserable mood is playing an insane sold out show in Shibuya Tokyo. It was possibly the hottest show we’ve ever played (I know I said that yesterday but this one was a good 5 degrees warmer).
The crowds here are so mental from the first song right to the last. There was a huge pit from what seemed like the first hi hat hit, and when I asked them If they knew what a wall of death was they responded by somehow parting an audience in a room with absolutely no room to move at all, and then kicked the shit out each other for the remainder of the song. I can’t believe how nice everyone has been to us since we’ve got here, the crew we have travelling with us are absolutely fantastic. Everything is arranged to perfection, with none of the usual tour hiccups that always pop up. And the best thing is that tomorrow we get to play another sold out show in Tokyo but this time in a club 3 times the size. Bring on the mayhem!
Fucking hell, tonights show was unreal! Another sold out show in Tokyo, this time in Club Seata which is 3 times the size of last night and 3 times as crazy to boot. It’s the absolute perfect remedy to cure my lack of sleep which was causing me to feel pretty dizzy at times. Nothing that 650 crazy fans and a few tins of Japanese lager can’t fix. There’s one thing that I’m disappointed about and that’s the amount of merch we brought with us. There was literally only 1 shirt left for tonights show so we’ve signed it and our merch crew are going to auction it off at the end. Lazarus AD are Tearing through their set right now in an already boiling room, I’ve gotta say I wouldn’t want to be headlining this tour.
The shows have been so warm when we’ve played, I can only imagine how devastatingly hot it’s been when the Lazarus boys are on, but they’ve not given it any less fair play to them. In conclusion I can confirm that Japan has been one of the best countries we’ve ever played, everything has been superb, the crowds, the crew, the Lazarus AD boys and all the support bands who have opened the shows. Check out these awesome bands: Metal Safari, Inhale, Serenity In Murder and Soundwitch. Japan I love you and can’t wait to get back over as soon as!
