Anthrax To Headline HMS Hammer
We promised that this announcement would kick ass, didn’t we?
Thrash metal legends Anthrax will headline this year’s HMS Hammer voyage down the River Thames as part of this year’s Golden Gods celebrations! They will be joined by Clutch, Malefice and Trigger The Bloodshed and this will mark the very first UK performance from Anthrax to feature the band’s new frontman Dan Nelson!
Speaking exclusively to Metal Hammer, Anthrax’s Scott Ian has said: “They’re going to let us play on a boat traveling down the Thames? Sounds like a blast. River Mosh! They’d better give out life vests!!!”
“I have to say I am really excited to be making our UK debut with Dan Nelson as part of the Metal Hammer Golden Gods. Finally, everyone will get to hear what we’ve been working on for the last two years!! I expect it to be a great year for Anthrax in the UK and this is an awesome way to kick it off.”
“And yes, we’ll be breaking out some new stuff on the river.”
On June 15th, HMS Hammer will take people along the Thames to the Indigo2 to party at the metal event of 2009 – the Golden Gods! Can someone at Hammer see if they can talk them into doing a Sex Pistols cover for it? They’ve covered the Pistols before and it would pretty mega if they paid homage to the Pistols 1977 Silver Jubilee river cruise!! Hopefully without the arrests afterwards…
