Avenged Sevenfold New Album Updates Aplenty!
There’s plenty going on in the A7X camp.
Avenged Sevenfold have been busy working on their new album and Mike Portnoy, who has played on the album in tribute to the recently passed Jimmy ‘The Rev’ Sullivan, had the following to say following completion of the drum tracks on the album:
“Me and Zacky celebrated by getting matching Death Bat tats here in the studio… I also went with Matt on Saturday night when he got a new Death Bat tat with Jimmy’s face.”
“I must thank the amazing Avenged Sevenfold fans for being so open and welcoming to me. I was fearing them being very defensive over The Rev’s drum throne, but they’ve all been so supportive, open-minded, understanding and excited by the news… It is a huge relief to me and the guys!
“What an awesome family spirit these guys have… lotsa love! Shadows, Gates, Zacky and Johnny are now my brothers for life… Hopefully this wont be the last time I play with them.
“And oh yeah… The album is gonna be incredible! The Rev is absolutely looking down with a big-ass smile on his face!”
This has been followed up by a statement from A7X guitarist Zacky Vengeance who says:
“Finished tracking drums with MP. They sound fucking amazing. Jimmy will be proud. Jimmy’s also smiling knowing that Mike Portnoy has a deathbat forever tattooed on him. To show Mike that A7X is deeper then just a band I got one to match his. Jimmy would have done the same.
“Mike realized that our fans and friends are considered family. Being an A7X fan isn’t always easy because it means you’re not only gonna laugh with us, but cry with us and defend us on occasion. If you’re part of the family it’s for life. Shads dedicated his right hand to our brother, without hesitation.
“I believe what we all share together is magical and wouldn’t have it any other way…Ill try my best to keep you updated from the studio.”

got so much respect for these guys amazing band really looking forward to hearing the album and i really do hope if it’s right for them, to continue with the band.

I got a tattoo of The Rev on my arm 3 weeks ago.
Avenged Sevenfold are my favourite band ever.
I was, and still am, devastated over The Rev’s death, but I’m glad the band have decided to carry on, and I respect Mike Portnoy so much for agreeing to record the drum parts for this album.

sounds like they are have fun making the new album, hopefully it will be as awesome as city of evil & one to make Rev proud.

well @liam hopefully they can stay away for at least a little and relies that maybe that a7x are more than a band, and maybe this album will shut them up for good, i love mp my fav drummer ever .And to be honest i didnt like a7x last album, but im looking forward to see what they can bring.

Ive gone off A7X after what happened when they supported Maiden, however as with the last album looking forward to hearing what its like hopefully itll be more like the early stuff.
Yeah what actually happened at Twickenham with them? I was like near the front and was paying more attention to the flying bread an bottles, then Matt said “security, get her” then went.
