Fuck. Being marginalised for the music we listen to used to almst be fundamental to being a metal fan. It used to be that the rest of the world were cunts because they were not tolerant to our choice to like alternative music. How are we any different? I suppose metal got a little trendy and along with it, slagging other people off for not seeing the light. I understand – When people listen to my fave bands and say its just shit noise – ive grown out of getting abusive, or even caring for that matter and simply saying, “Uh, yeah, right.” I find it hard to understand sometimes how people can like such music as the masses do and say metal is shit, but people are just wired differently. Accept it. Move on. Or continue hating anyone who has a different opinion to you. Your choice i guess. All people on here say is shit if someone dares to like something other than metal. Its quite frankly, getting boring. People never seem to chat to one another on here other than to bitch now.

Kev, I’m not sure what you’re talking about… I met the dudes from Avenged and they couldn’t have been nicer or more down to earth. To anyone who says “Death to all but Metal,” grow up. Music is music. There’s a shitload of amazing metal bands out there, but metal is one genre out of thousands of styles. I’ll listen to anything from Jazz to Country to Metal to Punk. Talent is talent. Can’t diss Matt for having an open mind and eclectic music taste, however you guys can easily be dissed for being so narrow minded.

They are homophobic (they’ve made several comments about this in the past…), objectify women and so on…and from people I know, the band members aren’t that great to be honest.

Though I do really love their music. Waking the Fallen and their self-titled are my favourite albums by them!

Tom’s right. Theres nothing wrong with having an open music taste. I mean look at Devin Townsend, if you like addicted or ocean machine, but yet also like his strapping young lad stuff, then does the “pop” material that people like just rule them out and make them apparently “not metal”. No. The people who work at metal hammer, metal band members and most people who are metal fans don’t all have to be one dimensional and just like metal. Bezer himself has said at times on the podcast that he likes non metal stuff.

i used to work at a venue (which i will not freely promote) where they were playing. the staff were having their usual meeting talking aabout the night to come, a7x rehearsing, we not even watching them when they’re like “uh, you need to disappear. you’re getting no free show from us” we’re all thinking, “are these guys serious?! and reply”we’re having our meeting, where we do everyday and where we are told to” then the singer throws down his mic, storms off, the rest follow him whilst fucking glaring at us….two minutes later some manager dick comes saying we have to move or they are cancelling the gig! half an hour before the doors open, massive queues outside. so the 15 or so staff cram into a tiny side room that we stored water bottles in.

that is Rockstar bullshit!!!! One of my friends who i worked with was gutted. They were his fave band and he couldnt believe it.

Music can be listened to by anyone. So many of the above comments make it seem like you people think that listening to a metal is a special priveldge granted to anyone in the currently uncreated “Tr00 Club.” It’s not a crime to listen to what you want, and if that means Maroon 5 or Taylor Swift, so be it.

To Kev, wow is that true? If so, i’m very dissapointed in them. It really does not sound like them, esp the lead singer, he has always been the one that was fan friendly, in a swarm of fans after concerts, he is the one that will wait around and sign stuff while the others fuck off. I do hope this album is more reminiscent of waking the fallen. I wasnt overly impressed with the self titled one..

I agree with Marie V here….and that is rediculous behaviour for any band, regardless of how big they are – that is one of the most egotistical things that I have heard. Its the kind of behaviour that I don’t usually expect from a ‘metal’ band. You hear all about the pop stars and divas making uneccessary demands but I thought metal was different. All the bands that I have met have been really down to earth and fan friendly. I played on a bill with Mendeed in my old band and they were a really nice bunch of guys, and actually listened to all the other bands sound-checking; being generally really supportive. I would relish the oppertunity to be playing the music that I love in front of fans, it just amazing me at times how these people can take that for granted

Dude a7x rule. they are definatly the most diverse band ive ever heard and they put on an amazing live show. plus ive been obsessed with their music since waking the fallen. and shadows is right, its amazing what you can derive from other music than just metal. i myself am a drummer, and ive been listening to alot of middle-eastern, latin, and bossa beat. then with that expirience, it made me such a better drummer. the rev from a7x is up there in the top 10 best drummers ever. if you wanna argue listen to Blinded In Chains, Crossroad, Almost Easy, or Betarayed. The drums on those songs are unbelieveable.

Ashley. No, it is not bullshit. If you dont believe me, thats fine. I couldn’t give a shit. I was there. Rather enjoying it i must say as i was convinced our boss wouldnt tell US to move, but he gave in and we ended up in a supply closet. But like i said, i really like waking the fallen, its on my mp3 player right now. But it happened. And it was the day i realized i didnt like them as people. I respect they are a talented band (solo to eternal rest anyone? – fantastic stuff) but it fucking happened. The thing is, perhaps they dont realize that the people who work at the venues are sometimes fans too. Which is why you have probably seen them as cool guys. the only other band, in over 50 gigs i worked for this place to do anything like that was HIM played 2 night in a row and said that if we adhered to the normal policy of allowing crowd surfing, they would cancel the second night.

Marie V and Barry…. HEAR FUCKING HEAR!!!! And as you have seen in these top 10 lists, most of these metal band dudes like a bit of pop too. And so fucking what. We like what we like.

I thought Metal was supposed to be the one genre that doesnt descriminate. Looks like its the one that does it the most. Simple solution, if you don’t like his band, DON’T LISTEN TO HIS MUSIC OR READ HIS INTERVIEWS! And that really does not sound like the guys walking off stage because people were watching them. Some of y’all need to really stop hating on other genres of music, because all of it has branched out from other, so without one other ones would have never emerged, shit if music never evolved we would all be listening to mozart and bethoven for gods sakes, not that there’s anything wrong with that but it would get super boring to the same thing over and over, expand your horizon and listen to some country or jazz, or are you just a big pussy that’s affraid that you might fall in love with rascall flats or lady gaga, just take a chance and open your mind to the wonderful sounds brought to you by talented musicians

I’d love to know what propells people to make comments if they already don’t like the band.
I’m pretty sure half of you don’t have a clue what your talking about, not saying I know the band of that I’ve even met them, but to start talking about them like that is a bit unfair unless what your saying is 100% completely true, but even then it happened once, who are you to say they are twats all the time, you don’t have the right to.
And to say they objectify women you need a big slap round the face, seriously I’m pretty damn sure that they all have other halves infact the singer is married and guess what him and his wife now have been together for like 13 years and he wouldn’t even think about cheating on her. Yeah they like to look at girls have hot half naked chicks in their videos, that doesn’t say they objectify women, jeez if you said that about most pop music no one would blink an eye concidering if you haven’t noticed that sex sells, and being half naked doesn’t mean your being objectified.

I’m sick and tired of going onto places like this and people ruining what is ment to be something where people can and should be able to get along, if you don’t like them, don’t comment, it’s a simple thing, nothing compels you to comment on it, no one is forcing you too.
Part of me wonders if your all children the way most of you are bikering over something that could quite easily have been misquoted.

BTW, A7X is making more rock/hard rock than metal, i really enjoy metal like Lamb of God and Bloodbath, but i also like such music as The Wombats are making.

Fuck the taco bell bullshit. For me metal has more than enough diversity. For fuck sakes theres everything from scottish pirate metal to norwegian black metal. But if Shadows wants to waste his time listening to lesser forms of music like pop (a genre i dont even consider music) he can go right the fuck ahead.

A7X is by far one of the greatest bands to release an album! Syn is one of the greatest(proven)! M Shadows is absolutly amazing. Maybe they have off days, but how many of u can say u spent any amount of time with them to truely say they are this or that. My opinion, you need to take all the bull shit and shove it cuz Avenged Sevenfold will continue to make music regardless of shit talkers. Find a friend of theirs and ask them how concieded they are. They’re good people. And as far as who M Shadows likes musically, leave the man alone. Half of you metal bitches listen to Taylor Swift daily anyway.
