AxeWound: Matt And Liam Pick Their Favourite Cancer Bats And Bullet For My Valentine Songs. D’awww
AxeWound‘s Matt Tuck and Liam Cormier have only got together to tell us their favourite songs from each other’s day jobs. As it turns out, the Bullet For My Valentine frontman and Cancer Bats singer didn’t do too badly.
Here’s what went down…
MATT TUCK ON CANCER BATS VIDEOS
“I love this video, its a great concept and shows the boys not taking themselves too seriously – as well as giving The Beastie Boys the metal treatment! This cover is super heavy and the boys in Cancer Bats really make it their own. What’s not to like about kidnapping random people in the street because they look like the Beastie Boys?”
“Road Sick is one of my favourites from their latest album and the video just works perfectly – the Bats have a wicked sense of humour. It looks like they had a lot of fun filming this one. Not to mention watching the guys rock out to their own song in a slum bar is nothing short of epic!”
“This song is bone-crunchingly heavily and encapsulates what the Cancer Bats boys do best: rocking out hard. It’s just a really natural performance, plus it’s a great song to headbang to.”
“This one features the band as lumberjacks rocking out in the forest, with a cheeky appearance from fellow Canadian George from Alexisonfire. George and the band even have a heart-warming sing-along at the end, a must see for all Bats fans!”
“The guys just slay it with this song at festivals. One of my all-time favourite Cancer Bats songs, and just when you think they can’t get any darker, they add a wolf into the mix! Crazy heavy and crazy cool. This encapsulates the energy and the heaviness that is what this band are all about.”
LIAM CORMIER ON BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE’S VIDEOS
WAKING THE DEMON
“We first me the Bullet guys in 2008 when we were asked to open up their US tour. I didn’t know any of their songs before that, so I went on line and this was the first song I checked out and it’s still one of my favourites! Such a bad ass song and a TOTALLY BAD ASS video! Werewolves eating ass hole jocks! its the best! After I heard this I knew we would all get along great!”
HAND OF BLOOD
“This is one of my favourites because it’s super thrashy and heavy and the sing scream mix in the verse is rad. I also really like the trade-off of brutal screaming and clean vocals in the chorus. I want to ask the dudes if next time we play together I can do some guest vocals on this one. I think I could hold it down on those Hand Of Blood parts.”
TEARS DON’T FALL
“When we toured with Bullet in Australia, I will never forget how loud the crowd would sing this song every night! Thousands of drunken Australians singing every word, at the top of their lungs. So awesome! Also if you tour with Bullet this song will be stuck in your head for weeks, just one of those choruses that gets locked in there.”
ASHES OF THE INNOCENT
“This is a bonus song off of Scream Aim Fire and is a total RIPPER! Super fast and heavy with some hella brutal vocals in the verse an then some classic Bullet in the chorus and then back into utter brutality. I’m gonna bug Tuck to add this song to their set at Sound Wave Festival so I can watch it every day.”
…A NEW SONG!
“Since I’ve been in Axe Wound I’ve got to hear a bunch of the new Bullet songs off the up coming album. Everything I’ve heard rules, but there’s this one song that is such a banger! I have no idea what it’s called but it has the hugest chorus I’ve heard in a long time. It’s going to blow peoples minds!”
