Beez Talks About His Download Disappointments
Beez moans about bands that disappoint him. That’s what he does.
Marilyn Manson. Deary me, Marilyn Manson. We put a blog up at the weekend about how he was under-par. How generous were we by saying that? You let us know.
The disappointing thing is that the new record is a pretty solid effort and he has a massive arsenal of hits to draw from. Festivals should be a doddle for him. It didn’t quite work itself out like that, did it?
ZZ Top could have been better too. I don’t know, it just didn’t seem to ever get going. Even the hits portion of the set at the end, everything just seemed to lack that spark. The zip and hip-swinging gusto that comes with a tune like ‘Gimme All Your Lovin’’ just didn’t materialize. ‘Tush’ still rocked like a mad man though.
Not really a disappointment but The Blackout were pretty laughable. Can you get away with being that out of tune whilst? You really shouldn’t be able to.
I was personally disappointed that I didn’t hate Hollywood Undead. I sharpened my knife (metaphorically, obviously. They don’t allow weapons onsite) and headed out into the field expecting to hate them. I didn’t really. I only mildly disliked them and that was a disappointment in itself. Gah.

Trigger The Bloodshed were pretty fucking shit too like. But at least they’re not scene doomxcore lolz comment my default “metal”. I’d never heard of them but Lawnmower Deth were pretty terrible but they did bring a smile to my face with their antics. Other than that all the bands I wanted to see were just awesome, and the best bit about it is that they all looked so stoked to be there!
I have to agree with Marilyn Manson. There was some of his best songs played but he totaly didnt seem to have any heart to it and it was a very ho hum affair.

Manson was the biggest disappointment. I love the new record, but he just looked like he didn’t want to be there.
If he doesn’t enjoy playing live anymore, don’t do it, save us all the effort of disappiontment after disappointment. I bet Twiggy’s wondering why he rejoined this circus!

Manson was one of the first dudes that i found myself in rock (maiden, zep etc where given to me by my parents), and i was hoping for a show involving sex, sex, more sex and some violance. However i would have settled for an artist who knew the lyrics to his own songs…. and trying to get the crowd involed by muttering something about a bloody coat…
All i can say is fuck off manson.
Manson was rubbish- and I’m a big fan. He always seems rubbish at festivals for whatever reason. I’ve seen him 8 times- 4 at festivals and 4 in concerts. The concerts always rock and festivals always suck. Very strange. I have a theory- could the God of Fuck maybe suffer with bad hayfever? Before you laugh, think about it. It was VERY hot at the weekend and he seemed low on energy and like he was really struggling (plus he took some kind of pill in the middle of the set, and I can’t imagine at a festival it would have been anything illicit). It’ll be interesting to see him on tour and if the energy is back in arenas.
You are also totally wrong about ZZ Top, they were awesome.
Manson – what a dick. I bust my ass to get within the first five rows of that massive crowd and he put on the worst performance I have ever seen! Shame on you Manson.
Yep, I agree with ChrisB. Manson has always been brilliant at his own shows and sh!t at Festivals.
EIther, he doesn’t care about the festivals or, as the opinion I heard on the day which made everyone around us laugh – maybe he gets stage fright for such a big crowd and either gets loaded or just seems to feck it up in someway.
His own shows are always MUCH smaller shows and it does make a bit of sense.
It’s been said before, but I gotta say it too, Manson was dissapointing live (N)

Nice to see them payign homage to those better than them by doing a medly of Korn, Bizkit and FNM but the highlight was when they finished.
Deary me Mr Beez, were you at the same festival as me? You obviously would not recognise a good time if it came and bit you on the arse. ZZ Top were splendid. I fear the sorry tank top you are wearing in that photo of the young oriental ladies with the tomato ketchup problem must have sucked the joy from your heart. And what’s all this about Whitesnake, who gave one of the sorriest performances it has been my misfortune to experience in a long time. Some vocalists can get away with singing out of tune and we love them for it – Ozzy being the prime example. David Coverdale, however, used to be able to sing. His dire, off-key utterances at Download were painful, especially to those who have seen him when he wasn’t crap. I left and had a jolly time watching some pretty Finnish boys gothing it up in the Tuborg tent instead – much better value.
Korn were amazing, Journy were amazing (freaked out though with the whole asian dude who sounds exactly like the original guy O.O). Limp Bizkit were good, not a masive fan but enjoyed they’re show and ‘Rollin’ is a favorite of mine
Slipknot were epic. ZZ Top were good, but lacked in somthing, engery maybe? After a few songs you kinda get bored of them and decide to go wander around until you find a decent noodle stand.. I loved Whitesnake 
They were quite comical at times, *picks up chair* “Fuck me that’s heavy” lol
They couldn’t have picked a better end to the festival, I must say. TRIVIUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THEY WERE ABSOLUTLY AMAZING!!!!!!!! I managed to get to thr front as I am tiny and can worm my way around people. I got to touch Poalo’s arm when he came out to the side! ^__^
Anyone else agree that Trivium were epic??
