Nah, they’re not. They only have two (probably three by the time the festival happens) albums and have only been around since like what, 2004? I’d give it another two years at least before I see them headlining. They’re very mainstream and have a big following, but I really couldn’t see them headlining. I could see them playing second or third slot at the very most, or headlining the second stage. They don’t sound big enough (if you get me) to end a festival day in front of 50,000 people… they’re too generic. It would be like Killswitch headlining.

I heard that the audience outcome to their slot at Sonisphere at Kneb was pretty poor.

@Dan: I’m not slagging them off, I love Killswitch as much as the next guy, but they couldn’t headline. Download is like a 100-band festival… and three of those headline the main stage. The chance of BMFV doing that is like the chance of Pantera headlining the unsigned stage guesting with Cliff Burton. It just doesn’t happen.

The problem being that, it was said after a pretty sub-par performance, they seem to have been getting worse and worse live since they started (seen them about 5 times)

If Bullet did play the next Download, it’d be a big reason for me going, no matter which stage or where on the bill they played. If they headline or not is always dependant on who else they get in to play. And if you don’t like them? Well it’s your opinion of course, but no one’s going to force you to stand and watch, plus there’ll be be other stages to go to and plenty of other stuff to do.

I just think it’s childish how people are saying ‘Download is going to be shit’ when there’s not even a single band on the line-up yet.

well first to headline youve got to be able to put on a live show first and i’m afraid to say after seeing them 3 times they dissapoint, the drumming is always off the guitars are offand the vocals are off. not a good live band at all in my opinion

Cannibal Corpse (just to see them on the mainstage and watch all the emos cowering in fear)
Deicide (same as the above)

If Download stopped flirting with the mainstream and booked proper metal acts for 90% of its slots, with some Classic Rock bands and maybe one of the three headliners could be one of the Classic Rock bands.
Worked nicely having a Classic Rock Sunday this year, they should continue with that, but then eradicate the sprinkling of shit bands that they have throughout the rest of the bill *cough* Papa Roach *cough*

the reason they had lostprophets/offspring in 08 was partly due to reading/leeds pinching metallica and ratm, and also due to the smaller scale of the main arena that year.

Bullet have thier own style of music, metal as you people talk about it is basically the same, double bass up your ass, shitty guitar parts (with some exceptions like All That Remains, Children of Bodom, and Lamb of God), I think singing most of the time, then screaming to emphasize a line or phrase is much better than screaming the whole time. People call them mainstream metal, but everywhere I go I hear people talk about the underground bands, and when more people talk about the underground bands, that means they are the true mainstream.
