I can live with Slipknot and Avenged Sevenfold on the site, but Biffy Clyro? Come on, they’re not even somewhat “heavy”. Might as well start covering Kings of Leon. I’m not one of those assholes who has to complain about every band that ever gets covered (although it may seem like I do – anyone remember the Slayer album discussion?) but you could at least TRY and live up to your name…

Biffy have tons of heavy as fuck songs, see There Is No Such Thing As A Jaggy Snake, they also experiment in odd time signatures such as 5/4, 9/8 etc. They are fantastic musicians and if any of you bothered LISTENING to bands before complaining then you might realize that.

As much as i like Biffy i never expected to read it on here.

Biffy are an amazing band but for once i agree with the “haters” Metal Hammer, stick to the metal, everywhere else covers the “rock” stuff, well unless its festival then go into the rock all you like

Biffy are great. Sure their not the heaviest of bands but so what? Neither was Beethoven.
I love my metal and rock, and Biffy are one of the few mainstream bands that actually are good.

I’d say earlier Biffy is metal(ish) (Vertigo of Bliss/Infinity Land) and both are very very good albums. Puzzle was mediocre and their newest effort is fucking awful. Just a dreadful album, and definitely not metal, if any genre it’s muzak.

OK the biffs new tunes arent as good as their old songs, but they are a fucking epic band, their first 3 albums did not get the credit they deserved. Just because a band doesn’t rely on a drummer who constantly plays a double bass pedal quickly, and guitarists who solo throughout songs and entire albums, doesn’t make them a shit band. The time signatures of some of biffys songs are solid. Try and time me the intro to Living Is A Problem. They are fantastic musicians, their lyrics are fantastic, Ben Johsnton is probably a better drummer than most metal drummers, i dont care what you think. Playing some of the Biffs songs on guitar and singing them at the same time, for example A man of his appaling posture, when the factions fractioned, takes a skilled musician. Biffy are an awesome band and they write their music with soul and passion, and it makes people feel emotions. Although saying this it does seem strange that a Biffy article is being covered by Metal Hammer? I feel sorry for the biff, having all you narrowminded wing nuts brainwashed by metal slating their music. Maybe, just maybe, has it occured to you that there is more than just metal out there? Music isn’t just about who is the heaviest, who has the loudest amps, who has the fastest drummer, which guitarist can play the fastest. Wake Up.

They’re first 3 albums proved them to be one of the most interesting and experimental rock bands of the last couple of decades. Some of their songs are insane in time signatures and are pretty heavy as well…but I suppose you’ve only heard ‘Mountains’ so wouldnae know that
