We spoke to Evan Seinfeld of Biohazard about relationships in the adult industry, in which he has worked for some years.

Is it hard to make a relationship work if you work in the adult industry?
“I think it’s tough to hold down a relationship, period! In America they reckon 68% of new marriages will end in divorce within three years. So the odds are not in your favour in ANY marriage. Is it harder in the adult business? I think it cuts a lot of the bullshit out of it. ‘Civilians’ [people not in any type of alternative lifestyle] have such a hang-up about sex and sexuality. For those people, if their wife/husband had sex with someone else in the relationship it would be over – it’s a cardinal sin. I don’t personally subscribe to those rules.”

“I can’t speak for women, but my primary programming, my hardwiring, my operating system is not one of monogamy. I want to have sex with any beautiful girl that I see. I even want to have sex with some girls that aren’t beautiful once in a while. I’m not one to deprive myself, so if I want to do it, I do it. I need my partner – if you will – to be the kind of person that understands that sex can just be sex, love is a lot more. The adult industry really cuts the bullshit out of it because if you’re with a woman and we’ve both had sex with other people while we’ve been together it takes away that fear. I’m not worried about it. I have a new girlfriend right now… in fact, here she is… [to her:] Hey baby. I’m talking to a heavy metal magazine in England and he’s asking me about whether it’s difficult to have a relationship in the adult business, and I’m saying it’s almost easier because we all have so much fear about sex…[muffled talking] You like Eva?”

Evan Seinfeld was, until recently, married to pornstar Tera Patrick.

What’s she saying?
“We’re having a shoot today so we’ve got two girls here, we’ve got Lupe Fuentes who’s my new contract star, and we’ve got Eva Evangelina who is a famous Latina so there’s a lot of tension because the girls are going to have sex with each other.”

I love that that’s what you’re doing today. I’m going to take public transport and read a book about the Mesolithic Europe…
“People hear about porn and they think it’s a big coke-fuelled orgy. It’s like, ‘fuck I’ve got to work for 12 hours a day I’ll be lucky if I get to…’ I don’t even know if I’m going to have sex today, y’know. I’m not pre-booked to but there’s a good chance that I’ll get to have sex with both of these girls and it would be my pleasure. It’s not my number one priority today, although I’m sure I’ll make it my priority…”

“For the first time I have money and I’m successful and I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in. I’m single, I’m doing a new album and I’m getting ready to go back on tour. So I’m excited.”
