devildrivervillains_901DevilDriver, Behemoth, Suicide Silence, Trigger The Bloodshed and Malefice lay waste to the capital!
If you didn’t get to the venue early enough to catch Malefice, you really need a long, hard word with yourself. With a ferociously heavy power-groove element that is only bettered in the world of metal by tonight’s headliners and Lamb Of God, that Malefice come within whiskers of stealing the whole show from tonight’s headliners gives an indication of the heights they’re currently hitting. Next time they hit the road, miss them at your peril.

Trigger The Bloodshed are always a brutal prospect in the live environment but tonight’s just not their bill. Following the thrash-and-crunch of what has gone before them, Trigger seem a little directionless. It’s not that they have a bad night (and they certainly ignite the pit), it’s just that they’re a little at odds with the other bands on display.

Suicide Silence are a massive surprise. They’re decent enough on record and though they take a lot of stick for the way they look, the beatdown heavy massacre that they create in the pit tonight is inspired. One quick thing to point out though, that preying mantis/eagle move that Mitch Lucker pulls is…how do we put this…shit. That aside, it’s a huge triumph for Suicide Silence and one that should win them a shitload more friends and dispel some previously held notions folks had about the band.

Banging heads is Behemoth’s business and business is good. That it’s the first time that the front section gets truly rammed tells you all that you need to know about the level of anticipation Behemoth are inspiring right now and for 45 minutes, Nergal and his cohorts out-and-out crush. The death metallers just start to hit their stride as their short-set closes, the headline shows to support ‘Evangelion’ will be epic.

And, with four bad-ass performances already in the can, DevilDriver take to the stage. It’s no mean feat that Dez’s thrash-heavy still manage to steal the night but that’s exactly what they do. The pit is as raucous as its reputation suggests, the material from ‘Pray For Villains’ hits with all of the impact of an iron to the face and Dez Fafara (though not too ‘chatty’ between songs) holds the throng in the palm of his grasp from start to finish.

DevilDriver deserve a hell of a lot of credit for tonight. Not only do they bring 4 premier league metal bands in tow and put on one of the best evenings of metal in 2009, they still do enough to justify just why they are heralded as one of the standout metal breakthrough stories of this decade.

If this tour hasn’t come to your town yet, you’d have to be crackers to not buy a ticket and, whatever you do, get in the venue early. To miss anyone of these bands would verge on criminal!

will be catching the mainland european leg of this tour in belgium with Arsis and Scar Symmetry supporting the two heavyweights
I am severely gutted to not get to see Suicide Silence and Trigger The Bloodshed

Trigger the Bloodshed were good the new drummer makes a difference. Dez Fafara said ‘I Love You’ thats enough for me- let him save his breath for the singing and the rest of the fucking enormous tour cos they are going to do a new album AND they are going to be at Hammerfest II and there better not be a repeat of the BFMV fiasco this year- BFMV may not have been missed at Hammerfest I but Devil Driver will most certainly be missed by me if they don’t appear!!!! Oh and if you are the little bald prick with the camouflage cap on with the orange writing who threw a large bottle of water into the pit then you are a c***.

cant wait for fuckin MANCHESTER !!!!!!

I was in london for it on the friday ^_^ i got there at 11, and queued for 6 hours. I dont regret a single second of it, all of the bands were incredible. I would happily give one of my testicles to see a line up like that again. \m/

saw them in nottingham. devildriver are one of the best live bands iv ever seen, behemoth were brilliant, malefice shit hot, trigger the bloodshed did nothing for me, and suicide silence were terrible probably the worst band iv ever seen.

I was at the Glasgow gig last night……..possibly the best ive been to! =D despite the early doors at 5:30 i got there on time and it was just fantastic. Malefice amazed me, i got their new album and it was pretty good, but this was a cut above. First moshpit i went in i got headbutted in the face and started bleeding out my nose and mouth but i was fine after XD. Ive seen Trigger perform better, their set was a little short and dissapointing. Suicide Silence……..I’m not a fan, but i would be one of the first people to be convinced by their live performance. Unfortunately, i detested it. There was nothing wrong with instrumental parts, the thing is, Mitch Lucker has a f*cking awful voice. Sounds like Gerard Way doing deathcore. Behemoth were absolutely fantastic! The whole show with the armour and stuff was great and they were tight as hell, i loved it from start to finish……even if they didnt play christians to the lions…..And DevilDriver…..what can i say? A-F*CKING-MAZING :) They played all of my favourite songs…well not all, cos thatd be a loooong time XD their sound was great, they played amazingly and the pit did live up to my expectations. All in all, practically perfect…….i just cant decide if it was better than Defenders of the Faith 2!

StealthyPike you should be a live reviewer lol
