Blog: Sepultura Revisited
Inspired by the fact that Sepultura and Soulfly recently performed at the same festival, on the same bill, on the same day (and that the Cavalera Conspiracy are returning to Europe), we picked out this gem of a video from the Max-era Sepultura performing on cult 90’s show, The Word.
‘Refuse/Resist’, motherfucker!
When we think about reformations for 2010, can you think of any more perfect than Sepultura with Max? We hope that you’re listening, Sonisphere and Download.

Oh pleeeeeaaaaaassssseee! Pleeeeaaaaasssseeeeeeeee!
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah!
fuk yeh!
The metal band of the 90’s. Saw them at Brixton on the Roots tour and they owned it. Fingers crossed.
Fuk, that brought the memories floodin back. Think i still have it on a video somewhere!!!! Come on guys, reform! PLEASE!!!!!
@Chris
And one of the bands of the 80’s.
Beneath The Remains is still THE metal album of the 80s for me. I was so pissed that Seps didn’t play here in Australia due to that leg injury…
Pfff…
I love the max era but I hope they never reform. Too much has gone on for them to ever really work well together. If the classic lineup ever reformed then I think they could never be a full time band, probably wouldn’t make any great new music and the price would be that sepultura would wind up no longer existing at the end. It would be like the sabbath reunion of the 90s.
Right now we have Sepultura, Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy. All valid, vital ongoing projects in their own right. I think that’s pretty damn good! I wouldn’t trade that for some financially motivated bullshit reunion with guys who hate eachother.
Broken Pixel – yeah, but they did go out for the “Arise” tour and that was fuckin’ awesome!!! I flew down from Brisbane to Sydney for it. Horden Pavillion, with Frozen Doberman and Massappeal on the bill. Fuckin’ freezin’ cold night it was. Some bastard stole their backdrop. I mean, what could they have done with it?? It was huge! It got handed back in the end. Got to have a chat with Max’s wife Gloria outside the venue. Ahhhh memories…
BBC made an ‘Arena’ programme circa 88/89 looking at Heavy Metal. It had some awseome footage of the Seps playing their first headline show at the old Marquee (not to be confused with the first UK show 3 months previous, ’supporting’ Sodom (never seen a main act play to an empty room before that night)). Now that’s footage the MH needs to get online. There was a ton of good stuff crammed into 45 minutes, interviews with Napalm Death (in bedrooms in their mum’s houses), Donnington 88 footage galore. Some hero should find that and post it online, today
I never bothered going to see them in ‘96 because I thought, what the hell – I can always see them next time. I didn’t know that the next time would be at least 14 years later though.
Hurry the fuck up and get back together. Sepultura fucking destroyed with Max and Igor. Cavalera Conspiracy could support…
