German folk-metallers Equilibrium are the latest band to be announced for this year’s Bloodstock festival. Equilibrium were formed in Bavaria in 2001, originally for just one gig.However, buoyed by the reaction to the show, they decided to stay together and eventually recorded their first demo in 2003. The demo soon came to the attention of underground label Black Attakk who promptly offered the band an album deal. Issued in 2005, their full-length debut Turis Fratyr combined rousing folk metal with elements of black metal, traditional instruments and lyrics sung entirely in German.

A critical success, the release gained the band a slot at several high-profile summer festivals that year. Impressed with their performances, long running label Nuclear Blast signed the band for their second and most recent effort Sagas, which extends and develops their sound in an even more epic direction.
