AC/DC frontman and all-round top bloke, Brian Johnson, has had the following to say to the Australian Daily Telegraph about the likes of Chris Martin and Bono when it comes to donating to charity: “I don’t tell everybody they should give money – they can’t afford it. When I was a working man I didn’t want to go to a concert for some bastard to talk down to me that I should be thinking of some kid in Africa.

“I’m sorry mate, do it yourself, spend some of your own money and get it done. It just makes me angry. I become all tyrannical.”

You tell ‘em, Johnno!

AC/DC, Megadeth, Bullet For My Valentine, Deftones, Motorhead, Volbeat and Stone Temple Pilots are amongst the first 9 bands confirmed to be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Donington as the home of rock and metal! Get Download 2010 tickets here!

*High fives Mr Johnson* you do wonder why folk like Bono don’t just buy Africa out of it’s poverty if they’re so rich from tour/album sales anyway…

Well said, Sir Brian.. Just five pounds could help make Coldplay history. Dig deep!

this is so true, I understand giving to charity and I would if I could afford it, but why should these mega rich celebs be telling us we should give our money, which we cant afford to give, when all they do is put on concerts to persuade us to donate, do they ever give any of their actual money, they could give a few thousand and it wouldnt even make a dint in there bank account, I dont even have a few thousand in my account, dont even have enough for download :-(

And this is why Mr Johnson is a bloody legend. I salute you, sir.

Fuck yes. Truer words were never spoken, maybe he is a better replacement for bon scott than what i thought. I have been telling people for years that just because bono stands there going on about how we should all help out the needy in the world and does some concerts for charity doesn’t make him ‘an awesome person’. The working class in my country (australia also) at least are damn near charity cases ourselves, if bono gave me 1% of the money he made last year i’d be much better off. In my experience rich people usually get to the level of income that they are at by screwing over the people below them, bono would be a broke ass busker strumming sunday bloody sunday on a street corner for change if he practiced what he preached..

badcarburetor

That’s the spirit that charges $90 for even the shitty sheets to hear his bombed out voice, right?

badcarburetor

er..sheets = seats. I’m sleep slurring…

I officially renounce my stupid allegiance to Bon Scott.

There really is little more irritating than some bloke sitting in a fckin castle telling the peasants to give their hard-earned pennies away.

I high fived him twice, at the o2 arena and wembley stadium! What a legend, cannot wait for Download!

Oh and Bono, he also goes on about global warming right? The last U2 world tour took 180, thats right one hundred and eighty lorries to carry their spider/hand/claw stage thing.

Their justification for it was by having lots of things at the gigs for recycling etc…..

SO, sounds like they left it to their fans to offset the carbon for them. Ok.

The Mark of Zur-En-Arrh

These idiots don’t realise that if people like us start giving to every charity, then we’ll suddenly find ourselves on the receiving end of that same money, yet they could afford to buy enough food to feed most of the populace for years.

If a child dies every 3 seconds in Africa, how the fuck is there anybody left?

Plus why would i send any money to Africa? Their government will only take it for themselves anyway, and the common people make the situation worse for themselves by continuing to have children.

“There’s too many mouths to feed, what should we do? I know, let’s give birth to another one!”

And people turn to me and say “They continue having children because of their religious beliefs.”

Religious beliefs are never a decent justification for anything. Not war, not segregation, and definitely not further ruining your country by producing additional people just for them to suffer from starvation or disease until they die.

I might as well pay the fire brigade £5 a month to extinguish the Sun.

Mothmonsterman

Well said Brian.

And as for Bono and all those other cunts, how about giving the money in your Swiss bank accounts to the needy?

fuck brian johnson and his shite music

charity is charity fairplay to bono and all the others giving money to those who actually need it

im not a fan of bono but hes still a hero for all the things hes done

Well said Mark of thingy!!
And Mull, piss off. Bono thinks he’s god. I wish he’d fuck off out of my face and off this planet.

go on brian!!! fuck em let the dying die its not our problem

Its great that Brian Johnson remembers his roots as a working man and is speaking up for us working people with little cash.
oh and mull get a grip mate Bono is a fucking cock. He might do good things for charity but I agree with Diablo, he thinks he is god and gets a shit ton of publicity for his “good deeds” that make him more money.

i know hes a cock! he broadcast from satelittes orbiting his own ego! im not sayin i like him im sayin hes done good things for charity

wat did brian johnson do cept sing in the most repetative boring band ever?

yeah he has done good shit for charity but he has gained a lot of publicity from doing so and made a lot of cash in the process. there are lots of people who do great charity work but don’t go and tell everyone about it and then force them self down your throat.
Also “most repetitive boring band ever” are you fucking joking?? a lot of rock/metal music is shape by AC/DC you fud.

mull is a troll.

Good man. Comedian Mark Steele also put it well when he said “If Bono comes on telly and says ‘£2000 a month could feed this village for a month, I just think ‘well give it to them then’. You can afford it.”

Chris Ward

And remember – Bono paid to have his favourite hat flown first class halfway around the world because he forgot left it somewhere. That could have fed a village fir a month. Twat.

Man you are so fucking right, and the truth is that this asshole of Bono makes charitys to avoid taxes, he is not the first celebrity who does it.

Studdman

Brian Johnson is right. I hate Coldplay and U2 haven’t put out a decent song since the 1980s.

P.S. I hope there is nothing wrong with listening to 80s U2.

Destroying Dignity

didn’t they have a big concert about global warming that involved flying a shitload of bands and equipment all over the place?

conserve energy people, by having a big fuck off concert using god knows how much energy!

i dont have a problem with charity, my problem is with wankers like bono who, as someone else said, had his favourite hat chaufferred to him!!! plus U2 moved all there tax stuff out of ireland to save money, yet this guy has maybe half a billion in the bank and wants us to donate to people who’ll never see the money anyway!

im unemployed but i donated a tenner to haiti cos i know it can make a difference however little. africa is fucked. they wanted and got their independence, look what happened. maybe bono should go and live there if he really gives a shit!

Mothmonsterman

80s U2 is good Studdman. No shame in liking their early stuff.

I love both Bon and Brian. Hubby and I were blown away when we saw Acca Dacca at Hampden last year. Hell yeah.

I just wish I had been old enough to see both in action!

Shaun C

If anyone hasen’t seen the South Park episode with Bono, trust me, you want to…

agree
teh same shit happens at where i work
when they want to pay for someone they keep nugging
if i have the cash i will give it or burn it
ac/dc rulz

sabbathdream

ACDC rock, Brian Johnston is a legend and is spot on, Bono and Chris Martin should be beaten to death with a sirloin steak and will someone please shoot mull with a ball of his own shite? \m/

It’s a sad sad sight when fuckheads like you and Brian Johnson can condemn a man for talking about giving money to starving people living in their own shit… these people are living in a living hell, where they cant even afford luxurys like clean fucking water! How many of you dumbasses live in a warzone, are threatened everyday by genocide and are orphaned by aids, violence and starvation? No one? Yeah, that’s what I thought you pathetic cunts

@ Shaun C

That south park ep is fuckin awesome, soooo funny, and true. Bono is just a terd of a “man”

He could probably buy half the world out of poverty if he wanted to….

t.k. bollinger

This reminds me of a joke.
Bono is in front of a stadium crowd and asks everybody to be quiet. He starts slowly clapping his hands. After about ten claps he says, “Every time I clap my hands a child in Africa dies.” To which one wit in the front replies, “Well stop it then you evil bastard.”

im in love with him now

Natalie

I watch celebrities like Bono, Madonna, et al. with great interest. I founded a nonprofit to help educate children in Togo, West Africa http://www.leapingstone.org.

We build primary schools and work with the adults in the villages to learn income-generating skills so that they will be able to afford to supply the children with what they will need to continue to go to school.

We are a small all-volunteer organization. Don’t have nearly the $$ that these celebrities do. Most of the people who donate to LeapingStone give small amounts. A dollar goes much further in Togo than it does in the U.S. or U.K. or Australia.

If you want to make a difference in the lives of people who want to help themselves, check us out.
