Full details inside!
With a host of metal talent already confirmed for next year’s BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR, organisers can now reveal the first set of headliners for the 10th anniversary event. The awesome pairing comes in the form of Finnish metal monsters CHILDREN OF BODOM and LA Cyber-Metallers FEAR FACTORY.
CHILDREN OF BODOM have defied all odds, breaking out of the so called “Euro-Metal” scene to become one of the biggest names in metal across the globe. 2008’s “Blooddrunk” album saw the band reach new heights, truly being embraced by the metal community, gracing magazine covers worldwide, including that of BLOODSTOCK media partner METAL HAMMER, and a sold-out tour of the UK with BOA 2010 partners CANNIBAL CORPSE. Famed for frontman ALEXI LAIHO’s impossibly fast shredding/soloing, as well as his guitar vs keyboard duels with keysman JANNE WARMEN, COB’s place as headliners of BLOODSTOCK OPEN AIR – at their only UK show of 2010 – is testament to how far they’ve come, and is not to be missed. Alexi commented:
“I’m really glad we’re playing Bloodstock next year – it’s the only UK show for us in 2010, and the crowd over there has been awesome for us lately!”
Originating from Los Angeles, California, Industrial metallers FEAR FACTORY’s appearance at BLOODSTOCK 2010 is one we announce with a huge swell of pride. Coming very close to performing at last year’s event after announcing the reunion of guitarist DINO CAZARES and frontman BURTON C BELL, the band changed plans to concentrate on brand new studio album “Mechanize” which is set for a February 2010 release via Candlelight records. We’re delighted that Dino and Burton will be there this year, not least because completing the new line up will be human drum machine and skin-battering legend Gene Hoglan and his ex-Strapping Young Lad bandmate Byron Stroud. Says the band:
” Fear Factory is proud to join the ranks of Bloodstock, the definition of brutality will be revealed.”
Their set of heavy yet groove-laden digitalised metal will be a treat for those in attendance, and we can’t wait to hear classics like “Replica”, “Self Bias Resistor”, “Martyr” and “Edgecrusher” alongside new songs blasted out in the fields of Derbyshire.
Joining the two headliners on the bill are cult Finns AMORPHIS.
Bloodstock will reveal another special headliner announcement on February 1st!

I’ve only got money for one damn festival… The choices are killin me!!
Now Fear Factory are playing, what are the chances of Dethklok playing seeing as how Gene Holgan is in both?
COBHC!!
Hell I wanna see COB again!
Damn… that’s a pretty nasty lineup! Amorphis, too! What are the chances?
All we need now are Nile and Vader and this will be the ultimate extreme metal festival.
id like to see chimiara added to the bill
@Danny: at least you have money for one festival. i don’t have any money at all
@Greg
Deicide?
“it’s the only UK show for us in 2010″…why are alll of the best bands only playing one show in the whole of the UK in 2010
@ Pete. might be pretty slim chances but id love to see Dethklok there. \m/
i cant wait to see the new Straping Young Lad/Fear Factory combo work its magic. i hope a whole new level of intensity for their older songs as well as the newer ones is shown.
Did they not learn their lesson from the last time?! COB headlining, it’s just Cradle Of Filth all over again, Alexi Laiho will probably end up with a bottle lodged in his head.
oh my GOD. and now if Subversi0n joins the Unsigned stage, I’m already going to this!!!!
considering 3/4 members of Strapping Young Lad will be there… *cough*
People have opinions about COB but they dont hate them like most people hate Cof, and there will be strict security to anyone throwing things on stage
Haha i wish greg, i think that would just cannibalize the devin townsend project though so they won’t do it
@ Pete: I don’t know about Dethklok, but with Fear Factory and Devin Townsend on the bill that’s three quarters of Strapping Young Lad…
Maybe we’ll see some dethklok I reckon Devin will maybe play with fear factory and so some strapping songs would be quite cool. Nothing will happen to Bodom as they have a successful history with BOA. Why have Amorphis been given a tiny little line, its one of the best announcements ever for BOA.
yeah i was gonna say bodom have headlined bloodstock before, its not as if their sound has got way more commercial like cradle’s has. and alexi is massively respected as one of the best guitarists around. they survived playing after cannibal corpse too lol
next announcement to contain Bloodbath? anyone? that’d be sick
COB!!!! thats a great headliner. i was wondering how they would top arch enemy and carcass this year without dipping into mainstream metal, but bodom is a great choice.
dethklok a possibility as well. awesome!
i would love bloodbath, give us them immortal and a strapping young lad set.
@Danny. The atmos at Bloodstock was way better than at sonisphere- but that might have been because of the screwing over of Machine Head. You could do Bloodstock and hammerfest for the price of Sonisphere just about- Hammerfest was awesome last time!
well considering Devin said he wouldnt play any SYL material on this tour i doubt it very much. ill be happy as long as he plays lots of materiall off Ocean Machine, Infinity and Addicted. but we still got his 3rd DTP album to come before BOA
ketaal comoe stan children es exelente banda
mejor metal
Morbid Angel anyone?
I hope Alexi doesn’t get too drunk and become unable to pronounce any word that he sings. Like the last couple of times…
Amorphis will be amazing.
