Chuck Billy has spoken to Metal Hammer about why people are still listening to and taking influence from the initial thrash boom from the Bay Area.
“One reason is that, although we could all be lumped together as thrash bands, we were all different to one another,” reasons Billy. “And so many bands made great debut albums. You think about Metallica, Exodus, Forbidden, Vio-lence, ourselves. The first records were classics which have stood the test of time. I am proud that what we all did back then has continued to inspire generations of metal bands. It’s so different to the big hair bands. They might have been bigger at the time, but where’s the scene now? Gone. Thrash has lasted.”

Bang the head that doesn’t bang.
