corey_90Find out who will be twiddling the nobs on the new Stone Sour album!

Corey Taylor spoke to Metal Hammer yesterday and confirmed that Rob Cavallo will produce the new Stone Sour album, which the band is due to begin recording this February.

“I just found out that I can tell you who we’re working with (on the next Stone Sour album), it’s Rob Cavallo,” Taylor told Metal Hammer. “He’s worked with a lot of people and it’s going to be awesome. I can’t wait to see what he does with us, man. We took a couple of meetings with him and he’s really, really stoked on the music. I think this is probably a little heavier he’s used to but I have every confidence we’re going to make a great album together.”

While Corey told us this yesterday, it is yet to be confirmed by the band officially or by Roadrunner.

Cavallo is best known for his work with Green Day. Amongst other names on Cavallo’s CV are The Dave Matthews Band, Paramore, Kid Rock, Avril Lavigne, Shinedown and My Chemical Romance.

If this line-up of bands scares you, don’t be such a whiney pussy. Taylor has already spoken out about how this album will be much darker than ‘Come What(ever) May’.

cant wait, corey takes it up a notch with every record, this will be killer

@ King …What? :O
Slipknot’s albums have been slowly mellowing with every one :S

This album will be much darker and heavier than Come What(ever) May? Every band always says that about their new album. So I’m going to call bullshit on that.. Then again, it wouldn’t take a lot for it to be darker or heavier than that Nickelback-like commercial rock album now would it?

I’d call bullshit on this one too. Its a statement that so many bands have made and failed to deliver. Take Killswitch Engage for example. I really like their latest release, don’t get me wrong…but they said that they were going to be stepping out of their comfort zone with it, and it was going to be heavier…it’s really not. Its probably they’re most toned down effort to date, and my one main criticism of that album is that its missing one fuck-off heavy track.

I can see the new Stone Sour album following this exact same path, which is a shame. Their first album is going to remain their best as far as I can see; unless they proove me wrong.

The QMeister

Well the only good band from that list is Shinedown, considering he’s worked with Paramore, how heavy can it get?

Reprise

Yeah fair play that producer has worked with some shit bands.

the producer will only make them heavier or less heavy to an extent – at the end of the day, it’s down to them.

Any producer (or person on Earth for that matter) who has ever had anything to do with Greenday will probably butcher any music he gets his hands on, fuck Greenday. Hope this new album proves me wrong though… :-D

Good for him dude! I’m not a big Stone Sour fan. I’m all for Slipknot personally, but Corey really done well for himself. That’s great that he has a big time producer to do his band’s album. Unless the producer doesn’t dilute what the album should originally sound like. It could probably give them a bigger push in publicity.

they should of worked with devon townsend!…or rick rubin…but apparently….corey and rubin dnt get on :-(

this album will only be as heavy as the cunts at roadrunner will allow it to be… look at how they treated machine head with ttaoe, dropped em because it was too heavy then when it sold shitloads across europe they begged them to come back…

RR suck!

Rob Cavallo actualy produced the un-godly album that was paris hiltons hopefully only release, interesting to see what kind of sound this new album will have.

Doesn’t matter what Stone Sour does, I will always and forever be a fan of their music. Their first cd was astronomical, their second cd was incredible, their next album will be remarkable! Stone sour has their own sound to them, they are going to be hard sounding no matter what with jim root and roy mayorga. (may have spelled that wrong)

the first album was good but I find is a little dated now seeing as it was slighlty (only slightly) on th nu metal side come what(ever) may I thought was a better album as I found it showed stone sour’s true colours…..it had a nice balance of heavy and melodies i’m quite looking forward to the new stone sour album as I am a huge fan of corey taylor and his work

mallory trossbach

I will support Corey in what ever he does. I have liked all his bands since 99. So hes pretty much slowing down with me.

Chad sexington

I heard that guy shits into microwaves and gets the bands he works with to do like-wise

Superhans

how will Corey sleep at night??….
quite well i’d imagine even though you disagree with his choices…. how dare he have a different set to you!!
most of you suck

Oh dear… Love Corey and his music but I hope this wont go all Nickelbackish n shit… He needs to start drinkin again.. lol

Michael

fuck rick rubin he’s a shite producer!

Back Seat Ogre

Hasn’t Corey Taylor always maintained that Stone Sour is the lighter side of his creativity whereas Slipknot is the darker side? Seems to me like a darker Stone Sour Album is just going to sound like his other project – kinda like how some of All Hope Is Gone sounded a bit like Stone Sour IMO.

nicolas

for all of you idiots complaining and calling bullshit on the “heavier” than the last record thing, it doesnt say anywhere in the article that the next record will be “heavier” it says “DARKER”, not the same!!!!! and if you click on the link at the end of the article this is what Corey says “I can say the material is DARKER than ‘Come What(ever) May’, but a lot more MELODIC, a lot stronger, a lot more mature, and the lyrics that are coming out of me are really good. I’m really excited.” so no one said anything about heavier learn how to read.

Mariano

I want to return to Slipknot and come to South America, specifically Argentina …. or Stone Sour also come to here

oh….Cardiff… (i’m off topic but who cares?)it’s a piece of artwork and i hope i’ll see much alike this or why not even better! Long Live the Vocal king! XDDDD Corey of course…

slipknot melhor de todos
