“self titled classic”?

classic is a bit strong a word. “first in a long line of over rated albums from this over hyped gimmick band” maybe ;-)

Bob Garage, why comment on something you obviously dont like? Why even look at this if you thinkthat?

It’s called having an opinion 133, we are allowed to you know! Have to agree with him, they are over hyped. All their albums start out brilliantly and then turn to shit. Even found them quite boring opening for Metallica a coupla years back!

Knotism

everyone maybe intiteled to an opinion but if it’s bad mouthing something that you choose to look at, you are intiteled to keep it to yourselves.

As far as Knot’s albums go this out of their catalogue probably is the only one that can be considered ‘classic’.

Was certainly the heaviest thing I heard when I first listened to it!

I don’t know why everyone thinks Iowa is their darkest or bleakest album when by the sounds of it it’s quite clearly Slipknot that hits the hardest.

my life is rockkkkkkkk

I duno Joel dude. Id say that while ‘Slipknot’ is my favorite of the bunch, Iowa is an incredibly bleak and dark album, probaly the heaviest Slipknot had until ‘AHIG’.

The last 15 minutes or so of Iowa (as the song Iowa) is like somthing out of a serial killer movie (think to end of Se7en as the whole thing slowly builds up and up into a crescendo of malice *oh yeah, i can make crappy metaphores* Probably Sipknot at their best.

That said, you cant go wrong with an intro where some nutter screams “HERE COMES THE PAIN!” :-)

As for folks that dont like Slipknot, of course they can voice their opinions! S’long as they arnt trolling for the helluvit.

To bob garage AND diablo, you have absolutely no clue what you’re on about. if you knew what they went through to make that album, how hard they have worked to get to the top (unlike lostprophets, my chemical romance etc) then maybe you wouldn’t be such a pair of ignorant fools…

No clue? Ignorant fool?? I have been listening to metal for nearly 25 fucking years so I think I know what I’m talking about. Slipknot are an average band, deal with it! Next you’ll be saying how hard Trivium have had it……. (like the comparison to MCR by the way!!!!!)

Come on people! We all love metal! We are not each others enemy here! Pop, Rap and RnB chav scum are!!! Not trying to wind anyone up here, but I find Metallica incredibly boring these days. Slipknot are THE fresh (or should i say Venomous) breath of air an often mundane genre needed. Slipknot, deny it as you may, were a kick of life metal needed. (dont misunderstand me here, i am talking past tense. i dont think metal has ever looked so healthy as it does now). I mean, what had Metallica done at the time? Load? Reload? St Anger? Gimme a break. And to me, the new one was to little too late. I cant even remember its name. It is good no doubt, but nothing special, and that is what i expect from a band doing it for so long. They can only try to remake their older glory days. Look what happens when they try to evolve. St Anger happens. Every Slipknot album has stepped it up each time. They have done something different with every album. And no, 25 years of liking something doesnt mean you are THE authority. McDonalds have been making burgers for longer than that. Does that mean they are the best? I think not. Being open to new ideas and opinions however is something that can improve your so-called authority though. Not just telling everyone they know shit. I mean, if you educate kids on metal and tell them only to listen to metallica and the like, there will be no metal in 10-15 years. Time to look to the future. And damn me for saying something so utterly cheesy (although fluid), but the future is Slipknot.

I never claimed I had authority Kev!!! I’ve always been open minded when it comes to metal/rock. I grew up listening to grunge/punk/hair/thrash/doom/black/death/grind/whatever metal!! To be honest I’d rather tell kids to listen to Mastodon, Bathory, Opeth, Evile, Death, Gojira or Pantera. Just my opinion dude!!! Oh, and when Korn, Manson and the Deftones first came out I thought that they were the future of metal. How wrong was I???

Manson is weird. Just weird. I like some of his stuff but sometimes am embarressed to say so as some is shit. Korn – Nu-metal. And i love Deftones. But i dont just like Metal. I love stuff like Jeff Buckley, The Postal Service (electro-pop stuff) and a lot of classical. But metal is my forte, and Slipknot are my fave band, seen em ten times, got the tribal ’s’ tattoo, so, i know people have different opinions, but sometimes i dont understand. Im not really talking about people who like metal but not slipknot (although it does puzzle me) but i mean people who listen to sean paul and drum and bass but say slipknot and the like is just satanic (although this satanic comment usually ends the conversation as it proves they havent eeven check out what they claim to know so much about) and noise. I didnt mean you personally with the 25 yrs comment. But i do know many people who think their opinion is the only right one. And strangely they all listen to Metallica, GNR and motley crue. ALL of them! And they refuse to listen to anything else. Which is moronic. And i couldnt agree more about Opeth, Mastodon and Gojira. Have you seen Gojira live? I did once by accident (as in not knowing who they were) and i dont think i closed my mouth and stopped drooling the entire time! lol. But i dont think Slipknot and Trivium deserve to be spoken about in the same way. I like ascendancy. Nothing special but decent. But their abomination crusade turned me off forever. And if you went to see Metallica, then of course, whoever they are, you will normally find any support band boring. Unless its The Haunted or Nile or something (just thinking of small bands that actually support nowadays as i think those days are over for bands like slayer who always kick ass live. When i saw Metallica playing AFTER slipknot at download a few years back i got bored. Not because the band suck or anything, but i was there for slipknot, as were you for metal-licker.

Was enjoying that (’til the last sarcy word that is!!) I suppose you’re one of the many Slayer haters on this site too (STILL don’t understand that!!!) You seem to have your head screwed on so despite Slipknot (see, didn’t lower myself to calling them Shitsnot – oops!!!) you might actually have some taste. I’ve recently got back into a lot of the thrash bands I grew up listening to (thanks to Municipal Waste and Evile) and I’m loving it. With the exception of a couple, I’d forgotten how good they were! What’s my point? These were the bands I fell in love with and they have a place in my heart. Just like the ‘Knot does in yours. That make sense to you?? Fair play to admitting to liking electro-pop on this site, too many narrow minds here! You’re leaving yourself wide open to dogs abuse though! I like the Cure, the Doors and some early dance like the Prodigy and Chemical Brothers. Let the abuse begin!

i just wanted to say your all losers for blogging. this is blogging rite?

Jesus christ people! Seriously. Slipknot will continue to kick all ass until the end of time. even when their mortal shells change to a tiny puddle of rot in their coffins, they will still be a massive influence to all metal. That insane hatred of Corey, the jaw-dropping guitar work of mick (#7), they are by a long long, shot my favourite group. of course, i do enjoy iron maiden, which used to be my favourite group for three years (defender of the faith for 5) and slipknot have stolen my heart, I love slayer, megadeth, pantera, hell! even the occasional beethoven.
If you dont like it, that’s fair enough, your opinion, and i can respect that, What i dont get is why continue arguing with someone who is obviously just four years of age?
Add me on FB slipknot fans!!! (look for mick tompson as a Display Pic)

METAL FOR EVER.
Headbang to live.
Live to Headbang. >:D
