Metal Hammer speak to the Slipknot frontman about the good ol’ days on the day the band have confirmed they will headline this year’s Download festival.

We spoke to Corey Taylor about the band’s first ever tour saying:

“It was a lot of work. We did the Ozzfest and then the Coal Chamber tour with Machine Head. And then we went out…god, I couldn’t tell you who the fuck opened for us but I just remember it was a lot of work right out of the gate.”

“It was just chaos, chaos, chaos. But in retrospect we learned a lot from the first year of doing that shit. We learned a lot of what not to do, basically. But we had a good time, I remember the audiences getting crazier and crazier and it just seemed like we were onto something so the momentum of all that kept us from losing our minds.”

“I remember a lot of times just rolling in and thinking, fuck we couldn’t get everything on the stage. Having to think on our toes and get what we could up there and still try to make room for the support bands. So it was a lot of work but it was also very rewarding.”
