Corgan And Grohl To Tour With Sabbath Star?
The former Smashing Pumpkins mainman sang on the track ‘Black Oblivion’ on the Black Sabbath guitarist’s solo album, ‘Iommi’, and Foo Fighters frontman Grohl provided vocals and drums on ‘Goodbye Lament’. Now the pair are thinking about hitting the road together as part of Iommi’s band.
Tony exclusively told Metal Hammer: “I’m hoping to play some solo gigs, maybe by February. I’ve been out in the States doing promotion for the album, and now I just want to get out on the road. It’s looking pretty good, most of the people I’ve spoken to are up for doing it, it’s just a case of sorting out everybody’s schedules. When I was in Los Angeles I got together with Dave Grohl and he seemed interested, and when I got home to England I spoke to Billy Corgan who was playing over here, he seemed pretty keen as well.”
Sadly for Type O Negative’s Peter Steele, who was also on the album and made it pretty clear that he’d love to have been Iommi’s bassist and occasional singer, Tony seems to have someone else in mind, commenting: “I don’t know about that. My plan is to get a stable line-up first, and then bring in various guest vocalists.”
More news as we get it.
