Dave Williams: 1972-2002
The singer’s body was discovered on the band’s tour bus in Noblesville, Indiana. The group had played at the Verizon Wireless Music Center the previous day as part of the Ozzfest tour. The cause of Dave’s death is yet to be determined. He was just 30 years old.
Soil guitarist Shaun Glass mailed in to say: “I am writing in from the day where we lost our brother Dave Williams. We just want you all to know how much we will miss him and to all in DP a big fucking salute!”
Metal Hammer deputy editor Daniel Lane, who had toured with the band in the US said: “I can’t believe it. Dave was always so full of life and lived for his music. It really is a tragic loss because Drowning Pool were on the cusp of something big.”
The tributes from his touring partners just keep on coming. Disturbed frontman David Draiman told MTV news: “He was the sweetest man you’ll ever come across.”
Drowning Pool made a name for themselves Stateside with the hit single ‘Bodies’ and their debut album, ‘Sinner’, has sold 1.2 million copies in the US alone.
