Agree with Colm, it’s his free choice. But being straight-edge is boring.

This is old news, he gave up drinking years ago for the sake of his voice and if its what he needs to do to continue singing then its what he needs to do.

im straight edge….and trust me….if you’ve been around people who ruined…and i mean ruinedddd themselves with drink and drugs…then its not boring…its a PERSONAL symbol and way of sayin “i dnt need drink or drugs 2 have a good time or escape my problems”….but it shouldn’t be a forced or image thing…a person should be straight edge cause they want to….but at the same time respect the fact that not everyone has their same point and view…and vice versa of course

how pissed would people be if they went to a gig and the singer of the band was totally off form because he was getting wasted the night before? being in a band myself I know that I can’t get wasted the night before gigs, especially when touring, as you just can’t perform to your best the following night, and you gotta play your best every night to get anywhere and respect the paying fans!

Firstly, it should be pointed out that he said “sort of straightedge on the road”. I can only presume this means he’s not edge when not touring meaning he’s not edge at all. All he’s saying is he likes to look after himself when touring and what the hell is wrong with that?

As for edgers being condescending, I think that’s really a thing of the past. You’ll find that there are condescending twats in all walks of life. However most (not all) edgers I know (me included) don’t have some sort of superiority complex. We couldn’t give a shit what other people do to themselves. I’ve always said “my life, my rules” so to harass others for doing what they want is just hypocritical

I myself don’t do drugs . I don’t drink. I don’t even smoke fuckin’ cigarettes. All i’m sayin’ is that this guy has always been abusin’ such matters just to show everyone in the world how intellectual he is , but he’s not. It’s all publicity. This is exactly where i smell shit.
I’m not against being straight edge. I’m against hypocrisy. i just think there’s somthing wrong with this guy. I apologise to his fans but it’s my opinion.

How many times do you hear straightedgers go on about how much better it is, then how many times do you have drunken twats in your face.

Both have their ups & downs. ie straightedgers dont wake up with the dreaded hangover.
Then again, they’ve forgot what it’s like to get drunk get all your mates round and have a crackin’ night out….

I know a few people where cleaning up would do them a world of good, and some straightedgers who’d probably chill out more with a pint

I’ve been straight edge for over 7 years, and I think that this guy can associate with it as long as it helps him.

I wish people in the straight edge scene would support him, maybe he’d hang out at hardcore shows with the kids!
