devildrivervillains_901DevilDriver have already set a date for the follow-up to ‘Pray For Villains’!

Hot on the heels of the news that DevilDriver have already written six songs for a new album, Dez Fafara has offered the following update on how soon we can expect a new DevilDriver album.

“Fuck yes, we’ve been writing! It’s what we do!!

Here’s the thing

Why do bands make you wait 3 years between records ?

Because they’re not prolific enough to write consistently?

Because they wish to prolong there shelf life by riding a wave created by a new record? For 3 years? Really?

Because there not diligent enough to get to writing/get to creating?

YES, all of the above!!!

DevilDriver has always released 1 record every 20 to 24 months PERIOD.

Answer ME … if you like a band, is it fair to make you wait 2 and half to 3 years for new music?

Meanwhile the whole time, they keep coming back to your town playing the same songs, while selling you different merch prints? Hilarious!
Let me answer this coming from a fan of music … Fuck NO!!!

You ain’t getting ripped off like that by DevilDriver….fuck NO! No Way!

The Goal is Simple

Release in Oct of 2010!!!!!

Almost 20 months since the release and a good 2 plus years since we finished Pray!

While I and the band appreciate the glowing reviews on ‘Pray For Villains’ and a lot of hard work went into it.

The Music, The Band, The Stage Show all keeps getting better from here fuckers!

I’ve heard 4 tracks that are making me want to record NOW!

Put your faith in us, We won’t let ya down!”

Fuck. Yeah. That is the attitude to have. It’s true what he says though. Bands Like Devildriver and Dream Theater always have regular releases and it’s good as it keeps us guessing.

Most bands probably wait that amount of time so they can create something completely new and to tour all over with it, but its cool devildriver are different.

Is he subtly having a dig at Machine Head there? 3 years’ touring one album is a bit too much.

I wish Maiden would be able to do an album every 2 years..
Shame the amount of touring means its not possible :(

There’s a fine line between that, and churning out absolute dirge just for the sake of putting an album out. I’m not naming any names, but it’s a delicate balance, no?

Sweet a 2010 with a new Devildriver album and Devin Townsends Deconstruction! Not to mention Fear Factory. Can’t believe Machine Head are touring The Blackening for another year! amazing album yes but a new album at some point would be better than hearing it all over again. Come on Robb pull your finger out.

This band is an insperation…

still lovin PFV so even better news on the horizon.

you don`t have to wait a long time to make good music if your in the creative zone i would imagine, Driver are always awesome live, and there latest record is STILL superb if you like groove metal.

if they have 6 great songs left over from pfv then i want to hear them now!!!

Yeah MACHINE HEAD, get your asses back in the studio and make some more music!

The Blackening was kickass yes, but you can’t prolong going into the studio forever! :P

Not prolific enough to write consistently? Maiden have had 3 years inbetween their last 3 albums, this one will be 3 and a bit, but would you say they werent prolific?

I’m sure Robb Flynn said something about another album next year when MfH were at Sonisphere. It would be hard to top The Blackening but then Burn my Eyes was good too so ……….MACHINE FUCKING HEAD!!!!!!

I love the sound of this,I can not wait for next year’s new album ;) come on DD

dez fafara, i love you.

metal hammer better pass that on ha.

ARE YOU LISTENING MACHINE HEAD??? ;-p

Gotta fucking love Dez and the boys, mind, this could be their penultimate effort if we’re done by 2013, right Dez? ;-)

the thing with iron maiden and other such bands is they are well established, they know the fanbase will always be there. look how popular ac/dc’s last album is, that took 8 years to come out!!!

don’t forget maiden did an album every year from 80-86, sabbath, kiss, motorhead, thin lizzy etc even did 2 albums a year at one stage!

personally i think if the creative juices are flowing a band should just get on with it, dont put time limits on it. devildriver and chimaira are the 2 most consistent metal bands at the moment so i hope they keep banging albums out regularly

it better be good then
