Did Aerosmith Ask Billy Idol To Replace Steven Tyler?

terrybezer / News / 29/01/2010 14:04pm

billyidol_90It sounds like there should be a punchline after it, doesn’t it?

Classic Rock magazine are alleging that Joe Perry asked Billy Idol to fill Steven Tyler’s position as singer for Aerosmith. Can you imagine him on the ballads? Close your eyes and imagine Idol trying to croon his way through ‘Angel’, ‘I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing’ and ‘Dream On’. Mental.

“Joe said he wanted to talk to Billy about joining Aerosmith, because the band were having problems with Steven,” said a source close to Perry. “As far as I know Idol did not show up due to having a cold.”

So there you go, Billy Idol could have been the singer in Aerosmith if it wasn’t for the sniffles.

Billy Idol and Rob Halford should raise kids together.

This is just dumb for sooooo many reasons. And I would also like to mention that the band doesn’t want to do ballads they want to go back to there roots and playing hard-rocking blues, which is a good idea if Steven Tyler wans’t being such a baby!!! Billy Idol would probably do o.k. with the older vibe of the band but it doens’t really work in a fans eye anyway.

I think Billy Idol would be great, except his voice is so much lower and smoother than Tylers. (Could he hit the high notes??). Billy is an EXCELLENT showman, though. He still really rocks! I just can’t imagine him doing other people’s music, except maybe Elvis or the Doors, or Iggy’s, but only a song here or there. Billy Idol ROCKS!!!!

I admire Billy Idols solo work and being part of Generation X but fronting AEROSMITH no way he’s too good for em Scott Weiland on the other hand could be considered as a replacement for the wayward Steve Tyler
