Ahead of their co-headline performance with Lamb Of God at this year’s Defenders Of The Faith 2 tour, we caught up with Dimmu Borgir guitarist and founding member Silenoz to get his view on the tour.

How much are you looking forward to doing another UK tour?
Silenoz:
“We’re really looking forward to this trek as we’ve been wanting to expose our music more in the UK than we’ve been able to do up until now.”

Are you looking forward to playing with Lamb Of God again?
Silenoz: “Lamb of God we played with on a US tour back in ‘01. I think it was ‘01, plus we hung out during ozzfest ‘04 so we know those guys fairly well. Should be fun!”

Will you be bringing pyro with you for the tour?
Silenoz: “People will have to check the show out to see for themselves.”

This must be close to the end of the touring cycle for In Sorte Diaboli, what do you think when you reflect back on the last 18 months of touring?
Silenoz: “Well, we haven’t really toured for 18 months straight, we’re the type of band that could never physically or mentally cope with being on the road for that long periods of time. To be honest, we actually haven’t toured that much at all if you compare us to other bands on somewhat of the same level. But at least this cycle has been quite effective and efficient enough to see a difference on the positive side of the scale, and that’s the purpose of touring - develop and progress as a band.”

Are you looking forward to beginning to write a new record and when will you start doing this?
Silenoz: “Yeah for sure! We’ve all got lots of awesome ideas laying around just waiting to be dissected and arranged properly into themes and songs. I can’t say anything about how the material would develop at this point, but I can guarantee that it’ll sound Dimmu Borgir 110%.”

Defenders Of The Faith 2 will be co-headlined by Lamb Of God and Dimmu Borgir and will feature one very special guest and Five Finger Death Punch. The tour will call at:
11th February - Bristol Academy
12th February - Birmingham Academy
13th February - Manchester University
14th February - Brixton Academy
15th February - Glasgow Academy
