Slipknot, The Prodigy and more confirmed for Download 2009!

Slipknot, The Prodigy, Korn, Devildriver, Dragonforce, Pendulum and Motley Crue are the first names to be confirmed for this year’s Download festival.

It would appear that Slipknot are the only headliners to have been announced. The Des Moines nontet have already self-confirmed that they will headline the Saturday night’s proceedings, while rumours continue to persist that there will be a ‘classic rock’ themed day on the final night of the festival. Get our view on Slipknot as Download headliners.

We had heard from Festival Organizer Andy Copping that Faith No More would be involved and there is still a chance of Manowar appearing too.

not sure if you guys noticed but later on in the night pendulum was also comfirmed as well

this is one of the best annoucements ever as a DL fan!!

Are Slipknot, Motley Crue & Prodigy headliners? Ther names are on the tope of the page on the download site, but just need to know??

king of heavy metal

dragonforce suck and so do pendulum sonisphere is already looking better with machine head, ratm, alice in chains and faith no more yet to be announced

Big Truck

Rumour has it that Nine Inch Nails are being announced shortly for Sonisphere too!

It shits all over this Download lineup (so far)

stuart mellor

you are an idiot to think that RATM will do Sonisphere. They would NEVER play anything less than headliners. They are more likely to do Download than The Metallica Show.

erick metal

slipknot and devildriver two of my favorites bands !
yeah ! awesome and epic bands !

MetalHead

7 bands announced and your already complaining about the line up this year. Let’s see, Slipknot – awsome, Devildriver – Brill, Korn – Brill, Motley Crue – Come on it’s Motley Crue for F**k sake, Dragonforce – Brill. Ok, so pendulum and prodigy who lets face it, don’t belong at download at all, but you can’t win ‘em all. Everyone complained about the line up last year and it turned out to be an awsome weekend and it looks like it could be the same this year.

For Your Malice

damn! if Korn and DD were on the same day then i might have to pop down…..

irving297

this is pretty good.

i’m surprised.

Michael Wilson

Looks like somebody can use photoshop, congratulations.

type the url into your browser……….
congratulations. I screenshotted it in case they take it down.

Big Truck

Why is this story coupled with a picture of Marilyn Manson?
Are Metal Hammer sneakily leaking another Download act?

awfull.
ok devildriver are awsome and id love to see slipknot and motley crue but HELLO STOP WITH THE MAINSTE?ME whos next trivium? or worse avenged sevenfold? : l

Big Truck

Changed that pretty quick. hahaha

dean is a lier. The Metallica logo in that pic doesnt even match the one on the lineup page..

Kris Dobo

Looks lame. I will not be going this year if it continues like this.

Michael Wilson

They actually typed in Marilyn Manson’s name last night and when I left a comment saying it hadn’t been announced officially they changed the line up and didn’t approve it so I’d say Marilyn Manson is playing.

Dean – sorry for doubting you, there’s a lot of people out there who do photoshopping etc to try and convince people of a line up that isn’t legitimate – clearly you have less time on your hands and are more honest than that, so my apologies.

np Michael, I dont necesarrily believe that all 5 bands on that WILL be playing, but it would be great, and far better than the DL lineup announced so far. however, sonisphere havent announced anything other than the 4 official bands we know about, and I am led to believe AIC are nailed on.

@ sean, yeah – I changed it for a laugh. get a grip son – I posted a screenshot in case they took the page down. Michael later verified and apologised for calling me a cheat too.

I heard (read: started) a rumour that to cater for extreme metal fans that moan so damn much that their favorite virtualy unknown undergound bands (that actualy only have a couple thousand fans worldwide, let alone the UK and would not possibly be able to play to a 60,000 festival crowd…) are not headlining a night The Download Organisers will actual be contacting the ENTIRE pantheon of Asgard Gods to perform. Yup. thor, Odin, Freya, the whole lot will be rocking your socks off.

True story.

If that isnt extreme metal enough…quit moaning and go to Bloodstock!

C’mon, give ‘em a chance to announce a few more than 7 bands; only one of which is likely to be a headliner. Download caters for the majority, hence the popular acts. Nothin’ wrong with that, theres pleanty of options for everyone (try saying that Saxon and Testemant wernt metal enough).

fuck it sounds good wish I could go but noooooooooooooooooooooo money :(

Merc has it spot on. Not metal enough? Stop bitching and go to the bloodstock forums where your opinion is (maybe) valued.

Would have loved Lamb of god to be there, still time though….

Gaye Black

How bout some black metal
