Sonisphere has the better first announcement!” by quite a few people… so plenty of time for more bands, just think: 100 more bands, and 2 headliners to go for DL, and around 40 for Sonisphere! And that’s before even mentioning Bloodstock! We’re a bit spoiled this year

AC/DC!!! Coup of the year!!! I’m glad I took a gamble and bought my Download tickets early. Add to that Megadeth, Deftones, STP and Motorhead with surely 2 more headliners to come and it’ll be one hell of a festival. Have fun at Sonisphere people. Everyone that knocks AC/DC clearly isn’t into rock music nearly ever single band we sit and listen to and enjoy are where they are and are inspired by that band and they ARE the biggest rock band in history and there’s no real arguing that point.

Megadeth and Motorhead are the only real good ones. Stone Temple Pilots are the poor stupid man’s Pearl Jam. And Pearl Jam aren’t the greatest band ever. Soundgarden and Alice In Chains are both a lot better than Pearl Jam and STP put together.

Well thats one of the biggest anti-climaxes ever!!! If that was the MASSIVE news that was promised well quite frankly I’m glad I’ve stuck with Sonisphere. The only way I’ll be going to Download this year will be if they manage to get Soundgarden headlining! But I’d rather they headlined the friday at Sonisphere instead so I can save my money!!

Hmm…. not quite a mind blowing announcement then. But two headliners still to go, shaping up nicely I reckon. Have to wait and see what each festival pulls out in the next few months. For those moaning about prices, DL is better value;
Sonisphere – 157.50 for two days and Alice Cooper, 3 days of camping.
Download – 180 for 3 full days, 5 days of camping

Download, why do you overly try to hype over lineups that aren’t that good? Once you get a SOAD and/or Sepultura reunion, then come back to me. I say this in my opinion btw, if anyone disagrees, fine. But this is how i personally feel would definitely make Download a better show.

to be 100% i still think the bloodstock line up is better than both soni and download. Ironically though out of those 2 i can’t decide which is better.

got to say that bloodstock wins this year allredy ,they have such a grate line up allredy sonispher have some good bands but not worth the price and downloads got only two bands i care about.

Take a good look at the poster and to me it looks like they have annouced the friday main stage and they will announce the saturday main stage next. that is why the line up looks weak at this point. the next one could be big and the sunday could be huge. give them time.

I’m sorry, but Slayer are still great, Anthrax are probably the most underrated band in existence, and Iggy is an absoloute legend.
You also forgot to mention Alice Cooper, Motley Crue and Fear Factory, all awesome bands.
Alright, not everyone likes Bring Me The Horizon or Papa Roach that much, but who cares when we’ve already got Maiden and Rammers, and a whole other bunch of legends?

P.S. tickets are only around £150.

People need to try something new. All the people complaining about the lack of decent metal, check out Bloodstock open air. It’s in Derbyshire and has a brilliant lineup.

slayer arent still great, the fact arya is practically broken is testament to that (testament for download? here is hoping) and yeah ok download isnt the best festival lineup in the uk this year so far, winner of round 1 goes to bloodstock but im bitter because i cant go to bloodstock so for me download is the better option, fear factory are great i will admit but im seeing fear factory have a headline set on their headline tour, id much prefer that to 20-30 minutes at sonisphere then have my ears raped by 50 minutes of placebo

The last decent line up for Download was when i was at it in 2007 when they had lamb of god, chimara, slayer, Iron Maiden….i got my sonisphere ticket early this year and glad i did. Megadeth is the only attraction for me if i was going to download

Just maybe they will anonnce a load of bands who played on the old monsters of rock festivals which I went to from the 5th one 1984 which was prob the best line up for a one day festival(Motley crue, Accept,Y + T, gary moore, Ozzy osbourne, Van halen, AC/DC) scene AC/dc Every time they played Donington from 84 so this will be 3rd time seeing them there saw them last year at wembley as good as normal only thing I hope is they change the set list round a bit and add some songs they aint played for a while prob last uk chance to see them as brian has mentioned hanging up his flat cap at the end of this tour… by the way dont take any notice of the Rush rummour they were asked loads of times in the past to headline and always refused stated they do not like open air shows
