Download: More Names Rumoured
Rammstein, Manowar, Motley Crue and more huge names are mentioned in our exclusive chat with Download Festival Organizer Andy Copping.
Rammstein, Manowar, Slipknot, Motley Crue, Korn and Def Leppard are amongst the latest names to be mentioned as possibilities for this year’s Download Festival.
When speaking about this year’s festival, Download Festival Organizer Andy Copping has said: “We want to make sure we have the best headliners available and we’ll work down the bill from there. Limp Bizkit are in the mix, Korn are in the mix, Dream Theater are in the mix, Dragonforce…Def Leppard…these aren’t names being put out there for speculation, I am in talks with all of these artists. I’m in talks with Manowar. Manowar haven’t been to the UK since 1993, I believe, and I’d love to get Manowar on the bill.”
“I’d love to get Manowar on the bill,” continued Copping. “Where we’d put them we would mutually decide upon if I can persuade Joey to play the festival and we’re quite a way to hopefully achieving that.”
We’ve heard Rammstein, Slipknot and Motley Crue are in the mix too…
“Pure speculation, my friend,” Copping laughs. “We’re in talks with hundreds of artists and we’ll get the best names that we are possible.”
Faith No More, Limp Bizkit and ZZ Top were amongst the names mentioned by Copping in our recent interview while Classic Rock are reporting that, contrary to initial reports, Heaven and Hell are not yet confirmed for this year’s festival.
In other Download news, Lamb Of God have kind of self-confirmed and The Prodigy have been heavily linked with a place on the bill.
Download will take place at Donington Park on June 12-14.
Looks like it could be a hell of a bill today, right?

Mano-fucking-war!!!! Hellyeah. I was at their Marquee show on the Agony and Ecstacy tour and it was awesome. I’ve been secretly praying to the gods of metal ever since for their return to these shores. Maybe this time they’ll be answered. Maybe they’ll headline a day and we’ll get the burning longboat etc etc!
andy u eeeddiot Rammstein would be the best choice if u wanna top the first day of download last year i was there i know how it went down which also means u would have to allow them to use everything they have flames fireworks the lot let them pull out all the stops and show everyone why they have had the best stage show in the world since 2005 and which i might add they took off of kiss so i imploor u as a rammstein fan and a devote fan of metal hammer do it man do it now
Andy Copping has lost his mind. Limp Bizkit? Manowar? Korn? Def Leppard. Wait… maybe he hasn’t lost his mind, he’s just travelled back in time and is booking the festival from 9 years ago
Will the festival be laid out as in 2007 or 2008? It ruined the festival for me having the campsite so far from the arena last year – but if the ticket sales are high enough will the stage move back it’s original spot inside the track?!
It’s moving again this year. The main stage will be where the car parks were last year I believe. It won’t ever move back in the middle of the track because the track is being extended for F1…
if he books that lot for dl 09, it will sell tickets as fast as leeds and reading festivals,
it would be the best dl line up so far, a classic
Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, Cream, Free…let’s see how many more ‘big names’ we chuck around with gay abandon…before they announce Hot leg as the Sunday night headliners !!
Rammstein, Manowar and Motely Crue…get em on the main stage and there will be more fireworks, expolsions and destruction on a level to when the Romans in Pompeii wondered what was going on with MT.Vesuvius in 79AD…
You have to give the fathers of the greatest circle pit ever made at download,,, DEVILDRIVER a spot on the main stage!! I am totaly up for good old back to my roots bands to headline instead of any newcomers loved by 17year olds!!!!
please please let it be rammstein ,motley crue i will love it,last years headliners were crap we need great bands
After last year’s debacle at Magic Circle Festival, I’d be amazed if Manowar’s egos ever let them play the same line up as Def Leppard (or Whitesnake for that matter) again. It’d be nice to see Manowar back over here, but at Downloads prices… they may not be playing to the True Metal crowd they’d want.
Plus there’s the fact that Manowar aren’t big enough to headline Download over here and they won’t play a festival unless they’re headlining. This one goes in the bullshit file.
rammmstein forever
korn fucking rock!
cardiff was fucking awsome.
hope to see them this year.

Rammstein would be the best thing Download ever did but they wont play if they cant put on a complete show, Ive seen them twice now and they cancelled the first gig to change venue so they could use all their pyro and stage set. So please dont skimp out on this one! Do it now!!!!
RAMMSTEIN. LA MEJOR BANDA DEL MUNDO. ALGUNOS NO LO VEN ASI PERO YA NI MODO. SE AGUANTAN
Rammstein, Korn and Slipknot! It’s all I want!
All you need is Rammstein….all those other bands (i don’t mean to offend any one, but) suck. Seriously? Def Leppard? Slipknot? MOTLEY CRUE!? If anything, Rammstein is going to be the one to save the Festival.
