There may even be more bands too! Bonus!

Download festival booker Andy Copping has just posted on his Twitter: “I’ve been a busy boy…I have now got 19 bands ready to announce next Monday…there may be even more…whoop whoop!!”

Maybe more? Insane!

What do we know? We know that Dillinger Escape Plan have self-confirmed and
that’s pretty much it. We’ll get our thinking caps on and get back to you.

Five finger death punch have already been announced though.

prtylvr

ffdp were alredy confirmed, so they wont be announced again

Shazzey

5FDP were confirmed like last month…

36 Crazyfists would be a wicked announcement. Such a good band and would be awesome headlining the tent. The atmosphere would be immense

I met Mastodon, and they confirmed to me, that they’d be at Download :)

I’m hoping for something along the lines of Saxon and Steel Panther, would of loved Twisted Sister but we all know thats not gonna happen hmmm i actually dont have a clue whos gonna be announced really!

bigdumbsex

Steel Panther will have finished their UK tour by this time, so I’ll see them being announced.

Will we see Slash getting announced? Lemmy, Andrew Stockdale and Dave Grohl are all playing the festival. I know Myles Kennedy is his touring vocalist, but it’d be cool to have a few guest appearences. This would obviously depend on what days the other bands will be there etc…

Downloader

Please let Down, Devildriver and killswitch be announced.

FFDP have already been confirmed.

Any bet’s on Slash and his touring entourage subbing Aerosmith?
I also thought AC confirmed Steel Panther were main stage this year at one of their gigs…

As I Lay Dying
Airbourne
Steel Panther
Unearth
36 Crazyfists
Him
Mastodon

Bet you all of the above will be included in the announcement

e-festivals says steel panther are tbc

@bigdumbsex: That’s probably unlikely to be fair, considering TCV and Motorhead are playing Friday and Sunday respectively.

And Dillinger are playing? Nice.

Skin (judging by the other UK dates they announced)

metalmaiden

Yeah!!!! FFDP confirmed on their tour. Would like to see Rise To Remain play if they do I might buy a ticket to go see them. Shaping up nicely, may be better that Sonisphere who should get their finger out to confirm more bands and not emo bands!!!

Nobody really knows who else Andy has!

Its great imo!

Maybe Hatebreed, Heaven’s Basement, Young Guns (Unfortunately…), Mastodon, Chimaira?

ROSS PALMER

i heard MAD MADONNA are playing there!

Slash will be at Sonisphere. Trust me. As for Download -

HIM
Sepultura
Mastodon
Airbourne
Ratt
Dillinger Escape Plan
Atreyu
Unearth
As I Lay Dying
36 Crazyfists
Job For A Cowboy
Steel Panther
Paradise Lost
Dommin
A Day To Remember
Rise To Remain

This’ll be the decider for me. So, it’d better kill.

Bee_Gee

Wasn’t a Sonisphere announcement due this week or next?

@ Bob, Slash wouldn’t do anything other then sub-headline, and looking at the Sonisphere line-ups for other countries, and what SG said about someone “we thought would never come over here” it’s most likely to be Manowar. AC has also said he’s in talks with Slash about playing. And yes Bee_Gee, I noticed that too, it was meant to be last week… :(
Him are also likely to play Sonisphere, as they’re playing the Finnish leg.

Apparently Steel Panther are playing the main stage after their performance last year, oh and A day to remember are playing leeds and sonisphere only

really hope 36 Crazyfists are there, that would make my festival tbh

Think these will be in there -

ALICE IN CHAINS
MASTODON
AIRBOURNE
RISE AGAINST
STEEL PANTHER
DILLENGER ESCAPE PLAN
SAXON
36 CRAZYFISTS
HIM
JOB FOR A COWBOY

ZombiePirateFromPlanet13

Wednesday 13 Please???

also wouldnt mind machine head, steel panther, airbourne, slash and van halen….

any of those would make my download and a few other peoples that i know downloads too

unfortunately itll probs include a load of bands that played last year, slash and him are likely aswell, luckily Bloodstock got twisted sister so they wont be at download, good to see that hes got a lot of bands going, whatever they are 1 they wouldnt convince me 2 go and 2 cant afford £200 as i got wacken and BOA tickets put together 4 less money.

I think Avenged Sevenfold may make a surprise appearance or could it be too soon?
Machine Head, Whitechapel and The Black Dalhia Murder could play.

@ Jingee, Slash is playing a week after Sonisphere in Japan.

Pretty sure his band wont sub-headline.

steel panther confirmed for mainstage aaaaaages ago. andy copping even said so. tbh, i dunno why they are still yet to be announced…

Phantasmagasm

With a download announcement looks like Sonisphere are gonna whap one out too…

I’d like NOFX to be announced :)

Chicker McDonald

@ Everyone. Why, oh why has no one mentioned Slayer, the best Metal band on earth and unreal live. them and Airbourne would make me wet my pants!!!!!!!

metalhatmatt

everyone recons airbourne will be there, but i heard they had self confirmed for another appearance at sonisphere

you me at six would be great…:)

ah no stone sour and a7x?

Slayer play download almost every year so whats the point in continuing that, NOFX would be a good one, Machine Head will not play as there on break for rest of the year.

@ Chicker McDonald, because they are Sonisphere UK exclusives

1ofthe4horsemen

Slayer or Avenged will not be playing! No point even thinking such a thing!
Alice In Chains
Rise Against
Job For A Cowboy
Mastodon
Airbourne

^ very likely bands that i’d jizz if were announced
hopefully some big suprises too, got my ticket!

skinnyeddy

A day to remember
Parkway Drive
Sylosis
As I lay dying
Dillinger Escape Plan
FACT

would all be awesome.

Chuck-le

Soniswhat? ….

james edward

i am i the only one that show huge respect for sepultura the best fucking band on the planet and i like both era of sepultura so start debate on who is better fronting the band they deserve to headline bloodstock better yet wacken and bloodstock download has kinda lost it a bit they have some of those shitty em bands on there which are a disgrace to metal sepultura ftw!!!!

@chicker

slayer are playing sonisphere, cant see em doing download aswel.

if avenged play download i may have to miss sonisphere this year for download.

chrisryche

van halen,rush? hoobastank?

Slayer will be one, as they seem to be there more or less all the time. Possibly Slipknot, but they’ll throw a hissy fit for not being a headliner. Soulfly, as they’ll need to promote ‘Omen’. And other guesses are: Dream Theater, Dragonforce, Opeth, Cradle of filth, Machine Head, Fear Factory.

Dont expect a metal overload for one thing it is a rock festival and it is the monsters of rock 30th anniversary expect alot of classic rock orientated bands and bands heavily influenced by those who were at the original monsters of rock. If you want a safe bet go with airbourne.

@ scott

HEAVENS BASEMENT need to go sonisphere again – not download lol cus i want a dear superstar n Hb fest again :P

I reckon that Mastodon and As I Lay Dying are the more likely bands to make an appearance. Hopefully they’ll get some “extreme” bands on the other stages to mix things up a bit, like Behemoth. Would make it more diverse for me.

Completely agree with Bauld. By booking Megadeth, LoG, 5FDP, Deftones and Bullet, it’s clear they aren’t booking metal bands. That or you’re a clahn.

I dunno anymore but maybe soundgarden? Bon Jovie were hot to be at download last year (As in being mentioned last year, not playing download 09!) but haven’t been confirmed and no headlining slot left for em tbh! AIC? Deffos slash!!!

Didn’t say they weren’t booking metal bands! I’m saying it won’t be a majority of metal in the announcement. I am looking forward to seeing lamb of god, megadeth and 5FDP again and i hope for lots more metal to come especially if they get Manowar! However i am of the opinion that they will try and recreate some of the monsters of rock feel and i think you will see a few bands added who are also playing the classic rock high voltage.

Devinthedude

I reckon Alice In Chains could be announced
Thery’re doing Rock Am Ring and they have a gap in their tour dates for the 12th of Hune which is obviously when download is, plus they did sonisphere last year so i don’treally see them doing it again
Wishfull thinking

It’ll be shit anyway pretty much the same bands that pack the lower levels each year.

Phantasmagasm

@Bault as mentioned by previous people Manowar are looking like Sonisphere folk. And I really doubt they are going to share that chunk of metal glory…

Yeah but i can dream for now, until it is confirmed they wont be at download manowar remain on the list after all nobody ever thought Aerosmith would be headlining it was all soundgarden and metallica etc. Let us pray for manowar and rob zombie.

Eddie Maiden

I don’t understand why they need to announce announcements. Surely it would be nice to have a suprise without people going “It’ll def be Metallica & Soundgarden” and in fact, the only basis you’re going on is hope, rumor and stupidity, which is why you were wrong.

Paul Russell

personally i would love to see both Blaze Bayley & his previous band Wolfsbane.I think the guy needs a break in the uk & hes awesome live !

Eddie Maiden

Indeed he is, Blaze at Download would be awesome, and i bet he could get even the Blaze haters dancing to ‘Futureal’ and ‘Man on the Edge’ :D

@ bauld – it has already been announced that Manowar and Rob Zombie will not be at Download this year, along with Van Halen.

come on cradle of filth!

Keep up Beez, Copping tweeted before this article went up that there’d be 22 bands.

Bands i would love to see, -

As I Lay Dying,
Avenged Sevenfold (Doubt it but would be awesome if they could make it!!)
Job For A Cowboy,
Atreyu,
Soilwork,
Static X.
That would be pretty sweet!

I’d like to see:

Avenged Sevenfold
Billy Talent
Atreyu
Brand New
A Day To Remember

this is more like it letting the fans know what is going on, sonisphere should really take a look at how things are done at download.

Avenged swevenfold are boring, unless you got a 14 year old girl in front screaming like she’s at a take that gig, then you look to the left and see a 50 year old women doing the same, and you then proceed to get very drunk and take the piss out of them.

Mr Blade of Bladeshire

I doubt Manowar will play Download or Sonic. The UK festivals will have a false metal band above Manowar and the Kings of Metal won’t do that.
Machine Head were lower on the bill than crappy Limp Wristed.

Spanner

After reading some of Andy Coppings tweets I have a feeling that Trivium will be announced on monday

Destroying Dignity

i would love to know how slayer playing 3 years out of 7 constitutes ‘playing nearly every year’!!! its corey taylor and jim root who are always there!

HIM will almost certainly be there, a regular fixture with a new album out=no brainer really.

with at least 19 bands being announced its obviously gonna be a few big name bands and a few obscure bands to clutter the lower part of the bill.

i’d hazard a guess it will include HIM, steel panther, airbourne, mastodon, as i lay dying, AIC, cathedral and a few crap emo bands (if sonisphere hasnt snagged them all yet!)

Download have attempted manowar before and they andy didnt want to pay them what they were asking. To whoever said behemoth im pretty sure they will only be at BOA, extreme bands r incredibly unlikely to end up on this bill maybe one or two huge names but thats it, cradle, opeth and dimmu being probs the only ones they will ask.

ov3rlord7

my dream 19 would be

SYSTEM OF A DOWN
36 CRAZY FISTS
VAN HALEN
STEEL PANTHER
SKINDRED
SLIPKNOT
SCAR SYMMETRY
MURDER DOLLS
MACHINE FUCKING HEAD
LED ZEPPLIN
KSE
KoRn
HATE BREED
EAGLES OF DEATH METAL
DISTURBED
SOIL
DOPE
DEAD BY APRIL
SEVENFOLD

the world would implode if this were to happen \m/

mrmetal666

announce any one but please not fuckin Down.

Nahh, HIM play 100%, that’s certain.
Really, considering their Download-history, and despite the surprisingly successful UK tour they are currently enjoying, I really admire their bravery to come back and play here.
Not a good idea.

Damn, why the last album needed to be so poppy, whyyyy? The live versions they make so heavy, was it so difficult to do the same on the album itself?!

Rant over. By the way, I see Sonisphere is bringing the Big Four & Co all to Eastern Europe. Curious politics.

p.p. It’s delightful to see Sepultura. Such big bands need some more respect!

ryanp143

I asked Stix (steel panther drummer) on twitter if they are playing Download and he Said YES!

Why not Down? They’re fuckin awesome

what anoys me is that people are asking for bands like down and others who played last year. and people are asking for five finger death punch WHO ARE ALREADY ANOUNCED!! clahns

AIRBOURNE & STEEL PANTHER :)

DO YOUR FESTIVAL MATHS CLAHNS!!

My Prediction for tomorows anouncment:

Fear Factory
Dillenger
Steel Panther
Airbourne
Slash
Karnivool
Flyleaf
Alice in chains
Mastodon
As I lay dying
A day to remember
Trivium
Atreyu
Skindred
Dirty Little Rabbits

oh and Spirytus

bust out sum phat beats to Cypress Hill too!
